Curl has been desperately trying to deal with AI bug reports for a while now. I wouldn't be surprised if curl, starts requiring methodical steps to replicate the issue. This way, even if the report is invalid, a quick test will figure that out.
I'm pretty concerned about Chrome stopping its support for Linux. Chromium has a surprising amount of influence, not just in the web, but even in desktop apps with Electron. Losing chromium would be a huge blow at this point.
Parental control software is important imho. It would be great to see a review of what’s available.
The more parents can consider Linux a viable option for their kids (as it’s harder to mess up the system you setup for them) the more future Linux users we will have as they grow.
At the moment I ended up using ElementaryOS purely because of their superior parental control, but the distribution itself isn’t great, especially due to their upgrade experience, so it would be great to see what are the alternatives

But now it looks like I cannot set fingerprint login anymore, at least according to #KDE settings. ("Fingerprint system login not yet supported" while... while is has always been!)
boot into single user mode, mount your root file system read+write, and delete the faulty line(s) from your PAM config file. Then reboot and all should be good. 🙂

C'est pas une commande, il te faut éditer la ligne de boot. Si je me souviens bien, il faut faire "e" sur la ligne en question, là tu peux la modifier, tu rajoutes (ou change si c'est déjà là) init=/bin/sh Puis tu boot dessus avec entrée.

Ça te démarrera "partiellement" ton linux en étant tout de suite logguée root. Et là tu auras donc accès à tout avec tous les droits. À toi ensuite de réparé 😀

Warning. My experience with fingerprint device on my thinkpad is about 10 years old. And: the fingerprint login did not work at that time (sometimes login or unlocking did work, sometimes not, sometimes unlocking with wrong finger was possible -> so, at the end I kicked it).
Special packages were needed as well as some modification in PAM configs. Unfortunately, I have no better info for you. It‘s too long ago.
In that case it‘s likely that something happened at the refurbisher. But lsusb does find the device? So, it is recognised by the system? 🤔
Some ideas (but fully out of the blue): Maybe, your stored fingerprint data is not valid anymore? Device was changed? Different driver required? Hardware: cable loose?
urgs. Sound tricky. I think you can boot into single user mode. Or boot from USB-stick, mount the root-partition (where your system-/etc/pam.d/ is) and edit that back to original. Should work.
Or - if you are on btrfs with snapshots - boot from a working snapshot (I have this config now on my new Arch/Endeavour; you need btrfs-assistant and grub-btrfs packages. But I have not testet that so far on hard condition).

You can boot from USB-stick to have a working Linux system on your computer.
Then mount the partition of your internal drive: mount /dev/sda1 /mnt /dev/sda1 may be different on your machine (if unencrypted; if not open the LUKS - but you have to look up this then). Maybe, you also have to specify the filesystem (e.g. -t ext4fs or try -t auto). /mnt is the mount point (usually exists). You find your pam.d under /mnt/etc/pam.d/ and should be able to edit this.
When all is switched back, you can reboot (remove the stick before the computer starts up again) and the machine should boot as before your changes.
Remark: all this is recalled from my mind. Maybe, I missed something.
But: there are still options other than reinstall and loosing the data.

I would mount each of the partitions and have a look on it. My guess: - n1p1 is the efi - n1p1 is the system (38 Gb) - n1p2 is your data But, that is, what you should know. Mount them on /mnt, have a look, umount. And then the next.
BTW: lsblk has more options e.g. to find out the filesystem type.

Epic literally stumbled into their success, Fortnite's development is the story of 20 different failed projects being meshed into a game meant to make a quick buck and somehow succeeding. It had been in development as a L4D zombie game competitor all the way back when L4D came out, then a survival base building game was piled onto that to milk minecraft, and so on and so forth. It's a wonder the game even came out when you realize how shoddy the development was. It's basically if Duke Nukem Forever was the bestselling game of the decade.
Epic killed all their other projects and delisted every other game they ever made in order to make sure Fortnite didn't lose the success wave it made. A curse on the world.

though I am sort of worried what will happen like 6 years down the line because of that
@kilostere @luithe Some developers were arguing about it being "good" because epic would throw free money at them. That money seems to have vanished though and all that's left is epic using Fortnite and Unreal Engine to prop up their client (yes, if you want to develop with unreal engine, you need to use their shitty slow resource intensive nightmare client). The only other actual argument was Epic having a smaller cut of dev cash, which in theory is correct but in execution the cut valve takes gives you a damn good platform. Epic takes less cut and delivers practically nothing. The argument of "valve monopoly bad" was worthless from the start by the existence of GOG and so many other platforms.

epic's entire business model so far has been generous now, greedy later
