I could never figure out what's your issue with it.
1. If you mute a thread, no notifications show up for that thread 2. If you have someone muted and someone replies to that account, that reply will generate a notif unless you have that thread muted.
@phnt idk something changed in the last version. i can't really explain it in any more detail than in the bug report. did not happen until the last upgrade. i'll try to nail it down later when i have time
The only recent change in mute filtering I know of is that domains of users don't get passed into the word filter. That got merged along with the Themes V3 stuff and I think is in the bundled FE.
Either way I've never encountered the issue you have, since I still get replies to Suiseiseki in my notifs even though I muted him and his replies to me don't show up in my notifs.
Idk, maybe try deleting notifications from the notifications table that are older than 3 months or something and vacuum full the table after. That's my blind shot into the dark. But that solved my notifications refusing to load, not creating them,
@phnt i'd rather not delete old notifs cause i might want to search them or have a record of them. in the past i have run into edge cases with conflicting db settings so it could be something like that. it's like the setting for muted user notifs is being ignored.
@phnt it's not just thread mutes that are a problem- if anyone you have muted is tagged on a thread, you won't get notifs, regardless of your show muted replies setting. i'm also not getting a lot of other notifs now just seemingly at random from people i follow. i checked the oban queue and nothing is clogged either.
I find myself blocking and muting more and more "liberal" and "democrat" voices here on the fediverse. Not because I've gone all John Fetterman and have secretly turned-into a raging conservative. Far from it. Still 100% Democratic Socialist.

Or until the Home Office system loses sight of them. Whichever happens first. So there are competing values at play.
