I could never figure out what's your issue with it.
1. If you mute a thread, no notifications show up for that thread 2. If you have someone muted and someone replies to that account, that reply will generate a notif unless you have that thread muted.
@phnt idk something changed in the last version. i can't really explain it in any more detail than in the bug report. did not happen until the last upgrade. i'll try to nail it down later when i have time
The only recent change in mute filtering I know of is that domains of users don't get passed into the word filter. That got merged along with the Themes V3 stuff and I think is in the bundled FE.
Either way I've never encountered the issue you have, since I still get replies to Suiseiseki in my notifs even though I muted him and his replies to me don't show up in my notifs.
Idk, maybe try deleting notifications from the notifications table that are older than 3 months or something and vacuum full the table after. That's my blind shot into the dark. But that solved my notifications refusing to load, not creating them,
@phnt i'd rather not delete old notifs cause i might want to search them or have a record of them. in the past i have run into edge cases with conflicting db settings so it could be something like that. it's like the setting for muted user notifs is being ignored.
@phnt it's not just thread mutes that are a problem- if anyone you have muted is tagged on a thread, you won't get notifs, regardless of your show muted replies setting. i'm also not getting a lot of other notifs now just seemingly at random from people i follow. i checked the oban queue and nothing is clogged either.
I find myself blocking and muting more and more "liberal" and "democrat" voices here on the fediverse. Not because I've gone all John Fetterman and have secretly turned-into a raging conservative. Far from it. Still 100% Democratic Socialist.

I donโt know quite what such people are expected to do. On the one hand we feel great societal opprobrium over the sexual abuse of children. Yet our society simultaneously has an attitude of near-sanctification towards anyone who can claim to be an asylum seeker. They too must be regarded as victims who are so deserving of our sympathies that the rest of us should pay for them to be put up in hotels until such a time as their asylum claims can be adjudged. Or until the Home Office system loses sight of them. Whichever happens first. So there are competing values at play.
The citizenry of Epping just suffered from this values show-down and decided that they were in favour of their daughters not being molested on the high street more than they were in favour of hosting illegal migrants. Some even held signs saying things like โSend them home!โ and chanted โProtect our kidsโ. But no sooner had these locals turned out to protest than a number of โanti-racismโ groups turned up to protest them. These always-available activists materialised with their ready-made signs that said things like โRefugees welcomeโ and โStop the far rightโ.
It cannot be the case that men and women who object to foreign alleged sex offenders being put up in their hotels at the taxpayerโs expense should be deemed โanti-immigrantโ. Nor can it be that parents who object to our porous borders letting in people who wait barely a week before they apparently start assaulting the locals should all be deemed โfar rightโ. But that is where we are.
