The original Big Mac from the 70s had the equivalent of 2 Quarter Pounder beef patties....about 3oz each patty after cooking.
Now it's pathetic. Containing two 1.6 oz patties before cooking...or about 2oz of cooked beef patty. (2 patties of about 1oz each)

That way you do away with the extra slice of bun (and the carbs associated with it. The onions are better on the Quarter Pounder as well.
