Oh, TIL.
"Grip was a talking raven kept as a pet by Charles Dickens. She was the basis for a character of the same name in Dickens's 1841 novel Barnaby Rudge and is generally considered to have inspired the eponymous bird from Edgar Allan Poe's 1845 poem "The Raven"."

Amy is a falconer who rescues birds of prey. A number of years ago she introduced the world to Fable the Raven, who is a real character! Children would send Amy their drawings of Fable and sometimes make toys for Fable to play with.

It's gonna be 2026 soon and I still have to:

* Fake the 'sync' event for most browsers.
* Run custom Istanbul in a build to get code coverage for workers.
* ... Many other things...

Some of these things are well over 10 years old, it feels like purposed neglect to force investment off web apps.

There's been a few bright points, but wow the basics....

The Powerglide was Chevy's first automatic. The first ones were cast iron, but by the 60's they were using aluminum housings. They were light and strong, but only had two forward gears. They're still popular in drag racing because of how durable and lightweight they are.

Unlike most automatics, you could push start a car with a Powerglide in it.

They used the Powerglide from about 1950 until 1973, but it was eventually completely replaced by the Turbo-Hydramatic 350 and Turbo-Hydramatic 400.

I keep my eyes open. My appetite for projects is much larger than my garage or budget.

I've already got an S-10, a Jeep J10, a Supra, and a '73 Corvette project. Plus my dad has a coupe of projects that I'm involved in ('66 Corvette, '91 Corvette ZR1).

I'd really like to build a Corvair at some point, and I think a Corvair Monza with EFI/Electronic ignition would be a cool car to daily. They're still reasonably priced, too. But I also wouldn't mind trying a Beetle with a Freeway Flyer transmission as my daily.

It started being available in high-end cars in the late 1950's. Mid-60's it was a pretty common option, especially in the South. My '67 Malibu had factory AC. My dad's '66 Corvette does, too.

The systems were not as good as the modern blended air systems, but you can get upgrades from Vintage Air for most of the older cars. You'd get a much more modern AC system, using commonly available R134a, with a much better working defog/defrost setting, if you did the upgrade, and their kits typically use a control panel that looks like the factory units.
