When I first graduated highschool I took a job as a cashier at the local grocery store. One day an elderly woman approached my checkout counter, clutching a small list and a determined expression. “Young man,” she said, “I’d like to buy half of a watermelon.”
I was caught off guard. “Uh, I’m sorry, ma’am, but we only sell whole watermelons,” I explained.
Undeterred, the woman leaned in slightly, “Well, I’m old, and I don’t eat much. Whenever I buy a whole watermelon, half of it goes to waste. Could you ask your supervisor if there’s anything he can do?”
Reluctantly, I nodded, and headed toward the back of the store to find my supervisor. As I entered the office, I muttered, “You’re not going to believe this—some cranky old lady wants to buy half a watermelon.”
I froze mid-sentence. The elderly woman had followed me, and was now standing directly behind me, Thinking quickly, I turned back to my supervisor with a smile. "..And this delightful young lady would like to purchase the other half.
My supervisor chuckled, impressed by my quick recovery. They worked out a solution, and the elderly woman left the store with exactly what she needed, a satisfied smile on her face.
Later, my supervisor turned to me, still amused. “That was some quick thinking back there. Where are you from?”
I puffed up slightly, flashing a confident grin. “Oh, I’m from Canada, but I left because it’s just full of hockey players and hookers.”
My supervisor’s expression shifted.
“My wife is from Canada.”
Without missing a beat, I leaned in with a grin. “That’s fantastic! What team did she play for?”

A senior #Israeli #official was #arrested in the #UnitedStates earlier this month and charged with seeking sexual conduct with a minor, only to be released on bail with no conditions or monitoring, allowing him to flee to Israel. The case involving #TomArtiomAlexandrovich in #Nevada is now stirring controversy, with politicians and social media commentators accusing the government of interfering in the judicial process to allow the cybersecurity official to return home without facing justice.

Court records from Nevada’s #ClarkCounty show that #Alexandrovich was charged with luring or attempting to lure a child online to engage in sexual conduct – a felony that carries up to 10 years in jail in the case of a conviction. He was released on a $10,000 bond, but no monitoring appeared to take place.

Richard Davies, a criminal defence lawyer in Nevada, told #AlJazeera that the apparent lack of conditions on Alexandrovich’s release despite the seriousness of the charges was “fishy”.

“Average Joe gets arrested, he would appear in front of the justice of the peace within 24 hours. The justice of the peace in that county would issue bail conditions, which very typically would include a GPS device, restrictions on movement, not being allowed to leave the state,” Davies said.

“So the fact that this individual was not only allowed to leave without an ankle bracelet or a GPS device, not only to leave the state, but also leave the country, is highly unusual and suspect.”


This is why no more #dual-nationals can be permitted to vote or hold office anywhere in the world. Whether they are #Jewish or #Somali, it has been repeatedly demonstrated that the only thing they really care about is their fellow #nationals, which most certainly does not mean Americans even when they happen to be U.S. citizens. Dual-nationalism shouldn’t even be legal, and at least in the #USA, it’s not even actually law.

If it’s true that the U.S. government was not involved, then Occam’s Razor would focus attention on the nationality of the judge who let the pedo run away to what is apparently a sanctuary zone for child abusers.

interesting observation: so there are pretty okay looking German-ish women outside the upscale clothing store who chat up guys who come out. I don't know what the scam is though, but I watch in fascination. they do it wrong though. they compliment men with like "wow, nice suit!" men immediately notice and distance themselves. it would be more fruitful to ask for help. they are too offensive.

Yeah, and I'll just go be a monk before I go work for some company. Have some more businesses I need to move forward on but I'm in a shitty place with a shitty economy so I'd probably fail due to those factors. Checked out the farmers market the other day and looked like things were not selling well. So not worth buying the insurance and membership to the market and fuel going back and forth. Need to just load my shit into connex boxes and ship em somewhere else maybe.
