I feel much better now. I had been under the impression he hadn't been doing ANYTHING... Such an accomplished individual... in the eyes of the ignorant maybe.!.
This morning I felt good about having the mobile vet give George his first “wellness visit” and mandatory FVRCP and rabies vaccines. Until about 10 minutes after she left, when George started vomiting violently, meowing piteously, and shitting on my bed. He was having a severe Vaccine Reaction (which is supposedly rare, lucky us) and had to immediately go to the U of I Vet Med animal hospital emergency room, where he was put in an oxygen cage and sedated. After 1.5 hours in the waiting room the doctor said she wanted to keep him a couple more hours for observation, but he was stable. At 2:30 pm I got to take him home, whereupon he immediately gave himself a splash bath in his water dish. I am supposed to give him more Benadryl tomorrow but his prognosis is good. I didn’t tell the vet that I will never, ever get him vaccinated again. Truly a terrifying day.
@FemaleIsNotAFeelingYeah it's definitely making me rethink vaccines. At least the rabies vaccine. I keep my cats indoor-only so I won't be getting George another. The other vaccine, combo for various kitty diseases, is apparently more practical (they can come into the house via visitors & clothing) and less dangerous. But rabies? Not on my watch.
@FemaleIsNotAFeeling @ninapaleyMost cats do not react that way. The worst reaction I have seen is when my sister's cat did a revenge pee on her bed (then went and curled up on mine) after a vaccine. Just keep an eye out for anything really out of the ordinary.
If Farah was less messed up, I would take her in at least for a yearly check up.

I've had 11 cats in my lifetime and so lucky haven't had a vaccination reaction, but at the same time I never really thought of it as a possibility before either.
It's just scary. My kittens are about 8 weeks old now. They're really small...I guess all I can do is watch them like a hawk!! Thanks for the support Caff.

Rabies is a bad way to go, and cats can get into all kinds of weird stuff over a lifetime. Can you really be sure that they won't encounter something that could infect them? No, you probably can't.

@Nina Paley One of my previous cats died from cancer that originated at the injection site of feline leukemia virus vaccine, this occurs in about 1-in-1500 vaccinated cats. Another cat died from feline leukemia. So my approach now is my cats are indoor only and vaccinated for only what is legally required and nothing else.

I've added a few changes to my Airstatus fork just for my peace of mind. The new output can be used as a tiling WM status monitor. I'm in the motions of diving into KDE JSON/XML/QML spaghetti to see if I can make a widget, but its not going well. However, you can still specify an output file that will update with the raw data in it's original, unaltered form. This should allow hoodoo programming wizards to hook up their own OS front ends for the data. I may see if I can make it so that the raw data clears the line before adding a new update, just because I can see the output file getting unwieldy after a while.
The new table will output battery levels from green-yellow-red depending on charge level. Caret and input are disabled while retaining the ability to break out with CTRL+C. Breakout is now clean with no text and clears terminal. This was to keep things as neat as possible if you should use it as a CLI monitor. Update interval is set to 4 seconds. Airpods and Airpods Pro should have columns for left/right/case. I can't test as I gave mine away to a friend.
