Visual Changes:
- It's Ubuntu 20th birthday
- Ubuntu anniversary: you get a "20th anniversary" text at boot and on the login screen,
- You get the Ubuntu 4.10 startup sound, you can disable it in the settings
- You get a new "warty" brown accent colour, which I absolutely love because I'm nostalgic of that era of Ubuntu, but other people might find it ugly to the extreme
- You get revamped Ubuntu LTS wallpapers, and 4.10 wallpaper as well, so you can relive these wonderful moments
- I wish they had added the themes from various LTS as well, the 6.06 theme, 8.04 one, and maybe the 10.04 one
Ubuntu specific changes
- Dock: progress bars when a snap is updating in the background, better than having the icon disappear then reappear
- Context menu is improved a bit, with a little header label and an other option: App Details, to open the app's listing in the App Center. Only works for snap apps
- App Center has a new Art and design category, the "featured" snaps section is moved up, in progress downloads are now visible in the "manage" label of the sidebar
- You can also uninstall snaps from that "manage" part of the app, and if you're trying to update an app that's open, you'll see a banner telling you to close that ap to perform the update
- Touchscreen support is improved, but couldn't test that myself
- Security Center: this is a new thing that lets you manage permissions for snap applications. Right now, you can enable an experimental permission that will trigger the new Ubuntu prompting client
- This is your "allow app to do X or Y" kind of thing, where you can set permissions once, always, for any type of file, and the like, and you can then tweak these permissions in the securiyty center
- Think of it as the flatseal / flatpak permissions, but for snaps
- In the future, this thing will also get firewall controls, Ubuntu pro subscription settings, and more
GNOME 47:
- Accent colors plugged into a settings portal, so should work with more apps
- This means the colors that are offered are a bit different than previously
- Dialogs are revamped with split buttons, looks like macOS
- Hardware encoded screen recordings
- Nautilus new sidebar, network emplacements, internal drives in the sidebar now: no more other locations
- Nautilus: used as file picker
- Settings: Activate windws on hover in accessibility, input source previews with keyboard layouts, online accounts are better with MS 365 suporting email calendar and contacts, webdav auto discovers services, and IMPA SMTP also does autocomplete now
Under the hood
- Wayland for everyone, even Nvidia, but X11 is still preinstalled
- Better fingerprint support with a newer version of fprintd and libfprint, but can't test that
- System profiling tools preinstalled, like sysprof, useful for developers to see why their app is underperoforming, or to optimize things
- APT command line tool also was updated to version 3.0, and the terminal UI is much more legible, with colors, padding, line breaks and spacing, so t's way more readable
- Kernel 6.11 with more hardware support and faster ext4 filesystem, Mesa 24.2.3 and Nvidia 550 or 560

Ahmad Saadat, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, is reportedly suffering under extremely harsh detention conditions in Megiddo Prison. His daughter, Samoud Saadat, stated that her father has been placed in prolonged isolation under inhumane conditions that have worsened since the beginning of the Zionist war on Gaza. During her last visit two weeks ago, she noted a severe drop in his weight due to inadequate food and total isolation inside a small cell.
According to Samoud, Ahmad Saadat remains isolated 24 hours a day and is subjected to repeated assaults by special units, extensive searches, threats, and ongoing verbal and physical abuse by jailers. She also highlighted deliberate restrictions placed on lawyer visits, describing the situation as part of a systematic campaign targeting her father and his symbolic status.
Reports from the Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs describe systematic violations inside Megiddo Prison. These include starvation policies, the spread of skin diseases such as scabies, physical assaults, denial of medical treatment, and restrictions on family visits.
Child detainees in the facility are subjected to degrading and abusive treatment, according to the Commission. During visits, they are brought in with hands and feet shackled, eyes blindfolded, and heads covered with black bags. Even while speaking with their families through the phone, their hands remain tied, preventing them from holding the receiver properly. Legal teams have repeatedly demanded that the shackles be removed during visits, but prison authorities have refused.
On August 3, 2025, 20-year-old administrative detainee Ahmad Sa’id Salih Tazzaz’a from Jenin was declared martyred inside Megiddo Prison. He had been detained since May 6, 2025.
With Tazzaz’a’s death, the number of Palestinian prisoners martyred since the beginning of the ongoing genocide stands at 76, according to documented reports. These figures highlight a brutal escalation in prisoner deaths, with a total of 313 prisoners martyred since 1967. The spread of infectious diseases like scabies has become a method of slow execution, especially in Megiddo Prison.
This follows Zionist Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s public confrontation of prominent Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti in his cell a few days ago. In a video released on August 15, 2025, Ben-Gvir was seen threatening Barghouti directly, stating: “Anyone who harms the people of Israel… we will eliminate them.” Barghouti appeared visibly weakened, pale, and emaciated. His family was shocked by his condition, with his wife describing him as “so thin” and almost unrecognizable.
Days later, on August 20, Ben-Gvir ordered the installation of large black-and-white images depicting the destruction of Gaza across prison walls. During a visit to one of the facilities, he pointed at the images and declared: “This is what they should see every morning on their way to the prison yard… This is how it’s supposed to look.”

I get it, you're supposed to do things that bring you joy because you deserve it but...
I like sharing stuff with people. I want to share the little moments of shock, wonder, or joy about whatever shenanigans I'm getting up to with people around me. When I gotta do those things only by myself, I have a very hard time.
Like, it's SO hard to get the motivation to do stuff when maybe just one other person or a friend I see all the time might see it. And I'm not sure how to get around that mentally, since doing tons of work to get whatever projects I'm working on dug into by tons of people is EXTREMELY unfun. And feels crummy when it usually doesn't result in much more socializing or sharing anyways.
After attending a meeting with our dead (part one) and severely criticizing the functioning and structure of the autonomous governments (part two), the Zapatista communities begin to analyze the positive contributions of those early efforts. While they point out the progress made in collective work, education, health, and as women, among other advantages, the assembly receives an unexpected visitor: the future.
Thus begins a terrible and wonderful exchange between today and tomorrow.
A multitude of eggs and sperm, referred to as “agüitas (little waters)” in the play (don’t ask me why they were given that name), appear at the assembly and ask a series of questions. Not only about love and such things, although that too. Then the assembly explains what it’s all about.
They give as an example the making of tamales. They describe the preparation of the soil, the sowing, the harvesting, the grinding and cooking of the corn, and everything related to the preparation of the dough and the filling of the tamales. They explain that this takes time, that the tamale does not suddenly appear on the table, but that it takes time, effort, and work. They tell them that they are going to put the tamale on a mountain, and that it has taken and will take entire generations to get it there. That each generation is replaced by the next. In other words, they detail the parts of the whole. And that it will be up to those “aguitas” to discover and understand the task that falls to them. They recommend that they care for, love, and protect Mother Earth because she is life. Work with her and upon her, in common and without private property.
A Durito and a Durita remain as witnesses who will see that the waters fulfill their part in the struggle. In other words, nature remains as a witness.
What is the tamale made of? Well, as I understand it, that will be known in more than 100 years. So it’s “chili, sweets, and lard.”
Gossip: when the young people in the play acted out a couple’s argument, SubMoy told a coordinator that he didn’t remember that part from rehearsals. The coordinator replied that it wasn’t there, the actors improvised it on the spot… and it turned out very well.
From the mountains of southeastern Mexico.

August 2025
Thanks to Life!
The protagonists were the support bases of the twelve caracoles, EZLN militiamen and women, who built the spaces in the Morelia seedbed that housed the delegations from Mexico and around the world, took care of the attendees, and staged plays that allowed us to understand more deeply the paths they will continue to follow in the coming years.
An extremely hopeful feature, although not new, was the overwhelming presence of young people, particularly among the militiamen and women and among those who performed in the plays. The plays deserve a separate comment. Not only did they create the scripts, sets, and costumes, some of which were truly remarkable, but they also had to be coordinated from the most diverse areas, which we believe involved months of extensive, intense work.
There was an opening ceremony held by militiamen in support of the Palestinian people, but there was no closing ceremony. Only a simple thank you from Sub Moisés to the attendees and the support bases. Without further ado, he closed the meeting to make way for poetry, music, and dancing, in which thousands of support bases and attendees from the most diverse geographies participated, as they did every night.
The sharing of experiences by delegates from movements and organizations from 45 countries took up most of the time, attended by the support bases while the militiamen followed from a distance. It was many hours of listening, that serene and attentive listening that the Zapatistas teach us with generous humility.
Moisés played a decisive role, even more noticeable because Captain Marcos did not speak. He participated in many discussions, contributing a refreshing and always unpredictable perspective, with simple examples from everyday life, infinite patience to make himself understood, and this time carrying a pipe that, who knows, seemed like a tribute to the captain, given his mannerisms, the way he smoked, and even the way he blew smoke into the air.
A large international and Mexican delegation visited the Dolores Hidalgo caracol, where the operating room donated by European solidarity is being built, along with a large hospital that is being built jointly by Zapatistas and non-Zapatistas. It will be a necessary project for the peoples of the region and a source of pride for the movement.
The last two days were spent answering questions from those attending the command post, one person from each caracol, half men and half women. In a single day, they spent more than four consecutive hours answering a wide variety of questions, some very interesting, others less so, but they always responded with good vibes and Zapatista humor.
The dining hall, El Común, was truly wonderful. There, Marijose and chef Ramón cooked delicious breakfasts, tacos, tortas, and other meals in a huge space where 80 Zapatistas worked in the kitchen or as waiters, 20 hours a day, maintaining good spirits and that spirit of dedication which, in itself, is much more than a revolutionary program.
Those of us who had the privilege of attending quickly forgot about the rain and mud to enjoy the space, the sharing, the informal conversations among attendees and, above all, with the Zapatista bases. They were wonderful days that we will cherish forever in our hearts.

The 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was, as expected, a circus of illusions and empty promises meant to deodorize the rotting carcass of a state in deep crisis. Marcos Jr. touted supposed economic growth, foreign investment inflows, and infrastructure projects as signs of a “Bagong Pilipinas.” But beneath the rhetoric lies the enduring reality of a semicolonial and semifeudal state, ruled by a corrupt and fascist regime fully subordinated to US imperialist interests.
More than anything else, Marcos Jr.’s SONA was a report card to his US masters and to the local ruling classes, signaling that the Philippine reactionary state remains open for plunder and repression, and that the US-Marcos regime remains committed to its historic role as a puppet of US imperialism.
Bureaucrat capitalist corruption in full display
Marcos Jr., heir to a political dynasty that once pillaged billions from the Filipino people, stands as the current representative of the ruling class, with full use of state power to serve the interests of big landlords, comprador bourgeoisie, and transnational corporations, especially in mining, energy, and agribusiness. Since Marcos Jr. came to power, the personal wealth of the country’s top three billionaires – Manny Villar, Ramon Ang, and Enrique Razon – has surged by 50 to 100%, a staggering indicator of how state policy has been designed to concentrate wealth further into the hands of the big landlords and big comprador bourgeoisie.
Massive infrastructure allocations under his “Build Better More” program primarily benefit real estate tycoons and logistics magnates through sweetheart deals, land speculation, and right-of-way arrangements. The Maharlika Investment Fund redirects taxpayer money and state pension funds into opaque ventures, likely to serve as slush funds for his cronies. Meanwhile, public-private partnership schemes transfer risk to the state and guarantee profits for private capital. Budget allocations for military operations, intelligence, and confidential funds totaling billions of pesos, serve both to fortify the fascist machinery of the state and to grease the hands of loyal generals, legislators, and contractors. This systematic funneling of public wealth to private pockets is a defining feature of bureaucrat capitalism in full display under the Marcos Jr. regime.
At one point, Marcos Jr. dramatically castigated unnamed officials for their role in corruption-tainted and poorly executed flood control projects. As the putative head of the GPH, Marcos Jr. cannot wash his hands of his regime’s failures by scapegoating his own appointees. His finger-pointing only exposes his inability to take accountability, even as successive typhoons disproportionately affect the urban poor and rural communities left at the margins of the reactionary state’s priorities.
Marcos boasted about billions in foreign investment pledges, but did not say a word about the mass dislocation of the national minority, farmers, and urban poor communities that these projects entail. He celebrated inflation “control” and agricultural production increases while peasants suffer under rising input costs, rice import dependency, and landlessness.
Marcos also boasted of accelerating land title distribution to farmers, claiming that the administration is committed to ensuring that “those who till the land must own it.” In truth, 68% of the land titles distributed under his term fall under the parcelization of collective Certification of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) through the World Bank-funded SPLIT program which does not transfer new lands to the landless, but merely fragments previously awarded lands, weakening collective landholding and allowing more maneuver space for landlords to reconcentrate ownership back to their hands. Meanwhile, the much-hyped New Agrarian Emancipation Act has benefited only a fraction of the country’s farmers, and even then, primarily through token debt condonation rather than any substantive transfer of land ownership. None of these schemes amount to genuine agrarian reform, which demands free land distribution and sufficient support services.
Similarly hollow was Marcos Jr.’s claim of creating more employment opportunities for Filipinos. But without national industrialization, the jobs generated are largely low-wage, temporary and informal – lacking job security and social protections. Many of the country’s newly graduated students find themselves either unemployed or underemployed, trapped in contractual service jobs or pushed toward informal gig work. For an increasing number of Filipinos, the only viable option remains to migrate abroad under an expanding and exploitative labor export program that commodifies Filipino labor while absolving the state of its responsibility to build a self-reliant economy.
Still a puppet of US imperialism
Despite his rhetoric of an “independent foreign policy.” Marcos Jr. has firmly re-entrenched the Philippines within the neocolonial grip of US imperialism. While he waxed poetic about national sovereignty, the reality is that the Philippines today is being transformed into a forward military base for US war efforts in the Asia-Pacific.
His regime has aggressively expanded military, economic, and political ties with the US, and allowed the construction of four additional Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites (bringing the total to nine), strategically placed across Northern Luzon, Palawan, and other key areas that place the Philippines within striking distance of China. These sites are not for “humanitarian assistance” or “disaster preparedness” as they claim, but are forward-operating bases for US military assets, prepositioned weapons, and logistical operations in preparation for future conflict in the Asia Pacific. The regime’s treachery deepened further with the approval of an ammunition manufacturing facility in Subic Bay, effectively turning Philippine territory into a military production zone in service of US war efforts.
Beyond military subservience, Marcos Jr. also acted as Trump’s economic lapdog. In a humiliating display of neocolonial servitude, Marcos Jr. “negotiated” with Donald Trump to reduce US tariffs on Philippine exports down from 20% to 19% – a measly 1% reduction in exchange for the entry of US cars, pharmaceuticals, wheat and soy products tariff-free into the Philippine market. While the US protects its own industries and sets the terms of “free trade,” the Marcos regime willingly dismantles what little remains of the country’s manufacturing, agriculture, and health sovereignty. It further opens the door for a flood of cheap US goods that will severely displace local producers, farmers, and small businesses, all while deepening dependency on imperialist supply chains.
Marcos Jr. continues to uphold the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA), the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT), and other lopsided military and economic arrangements that keep the Philippines under US tutelage. While waving the flag of his so-called Bagong Pilipinas, Marcos Jr. is in fact deepening the country’s role as a pawn in the brewing war between US and China. He willingly places the Filipino people at risk of inter-imperialist conflict, offering our lands, labor, and lives in service of a war that does not serve the Filipino people’s interests.
Consolidation of fascist rule
Perhaps the most dangerous element of Marcos Jr.’s regime is its consolidation of fascist rule. While dressed in democratic garb, the reactionary state today is actively suppressing dissent, criminalizing dissent, and militarizing civilian governance.
The SONA did not mention the thousands of political prisoners languishing in jails, the red-tagging of journalists, environmentalists, labor leaders, and indigenous defenders, or the continuing extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances of activists. The Anti-Terrorism Council wields arbitrary powers to silence critics, and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) is a tool of terror, corruption, and repression.
Under the gloss of “peacebuilding” and “development”, Marcos Jr.’s National Action Plan for Unity, Peace and Development (NAP-UPD) is nothing more than a rebranded blueprint modeled after the US Counterinsurgency Guide meant to crush the revolutionary armed movement. It continues the legacy of the “whole-of-nation” approach, mobilizing civilian agencies, local government units, and even schools and religious institutions as instruments of military intelligence and psychological warfare.
What made Marcos Jr.’s SONA particularly laughable (if not outright delusional) was his claim that “no more guerilla fronts exist” – which is easily disproven by the successive tactical offensives of the New People’s Army (NPA) in recent times across Mindanao, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and Southern Tagalog, among other regions. Instead of diminishing, the armed revolutionary movement continues to expand its ranks, gain political strength, and consolidate revolutionary bases in the countryside.
Toward genuine liberation
The revolutionary movement stands in sharp contrast to the lies and illusions peddled by Marcos Jr.’s in his fourth SONA. While the Marcos regime sings lullabies of progress, the masses are awakened by persistent crises and chronic poverty. They now rise up and resist across the archipelago, taking up arms to join the NPA and fulfill the Filipino proletariat’s historic task of winning the national democratic revolution.

Yes. It’s anchored in their stilted perspective of “Laissez-faire” “Ayn Rand” ‘dynamism’. It’s also true — although he’d never be able to grok it himself — that Trump can’t help but bring narcissistic mob boss Marxist Maoist demand to have his fingers in every “deal”.
As for the money supply, seems we are destined for a harrowing near miss, or USA will be Trump’s 7th bankruptcy. He always launders, scams, and defrauds heavily, then leaves others hold the bag.

It seems to me the USA Republic is very much at risk of fracturing. Trump’s very nature of “hit back harder”, “always attack” just about guarantees it. Resources and realignment then would be paramount.
I wonder about two key areas:
1) Counties who voted against Trump in 2016, 2020, & 2024 together produce 70%+ of USA GDP; that’s important.
2) How many active service US Military will refuse to follow the regime’s orders as states resist, withhold Fed payments?
Regardless of what happens, it appears very clear: Putin and Xi will get exactly what they want; a very degraded USA, or destroyed altogether.
Again, resources and realignment of North America would be paramount. Communities, areas who are strong and unified will fair better. Much will depend on new alliances made. Among states, even other nations.
I believe Trump is much more than a symptom. Yes, the equality and trust immune system of our democracy, plus the collective civil/emotional/mental health of our society and politics, was/is very weak and compromised. But Trump - elected with 49.8% of the vote, at 63.7% turnout - is actually a virulent infection, a malignancy metastasized in grievance and cruelty. Trump is a severe and deadly contagion that might very well end America.
What “freeloaders” do you mean? Sounds like you might have some grievances? Or, even be gaslit?

Small and medium-sized construction projects often face unique challenges that larger projects do not, including limited space, budget constraints, and the need for flexibility in concrete production. A small concrete plant provides a practical solution, allowing contractors to produce high-quality concrete on-site or near the construction area. This reduces dependency on distant suppliers and ensures timely delivery of fresh concrete.
Compared to large-scale facilities, these plants offer lower initial investment, easier installation, and simpler operation. A ready mix concrete plant can be adapted to the scale of the project, providing consistent quality while keeping operational costs manageable, making it an ideal choice for small and medium-sized construction works.
One of the most important reasons to choose a small concrete plant(planta de concreto pequeña) is its cost-effectiveness. The concrete plant price is significantly lower than that of traditional large-scale plants, making it accessible for contractors handling smaller projects. Lower setup costs and reduced operating expenses, such as electricity, labor, and maintenance, allow small businesses or municipal projects to produce concrete independently without relying on third-party suppliers.
Small concrete plants are designed to be compact and flexible, which is essential for projects with limited space. These plants can be installed quickly and relocated if necessary, allowing contractors to move production units between sites as project phases change. This flexibility also ensures that concrete is produced close to the work site, minimizing transportation delays and maintaining the quality of the mix.
A small batching plant can be set up much faster than a large facility, often within a few days. Modern ready mix concrete plant(planta de concreto premezclado) systems come with user-friendly control panels and automated batching functions, reducing the learning curve for operators. Fewer personnel are required to run the plant efficiently, which is particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized construction projects with limited workforce availability.
Even with a compact size, small concrete plants are capable of producing high-quality concrete consistently. Advanced batching systems ensure precise measurement of cement, aggregates, water, and additives, which guarantees uniformity in every batch. This level of accuracy is essential to maintain structural integrity and compliance with engineering standards on smaller construction sites.
By producing concrete on-demand and close to the construction area, a small concrete plant minimizes waste caused by over-ordering or delays in transportation. Accurate mixing and real-time monitoring allow operators to adjust recipes for local materials, ensuring efficient use of resources and lower overall project costs.
Small batching plants(planta de concreto) are ideal for constructing low- to mid-rise residential and commercial buildings. Their ability to produce just the right amount of concrete on-site ensures that projects stay on schedule without excessive inventory or storage requirements.
For infrastructure projects in rural areas, a small plant can provide reliable concrete production where access to centralized plants is limited. Roads, bridges, and small public buildings benefit from on-site batching, which reduces transportation time and maintains concrete quality.
Small concrete plants require fewer operators due to automation and simplified control systems. This reduces labor costs and makes plant operation more manageable for smaller contractors. A ready mix concrete plant often integrates remote monitoring, which further minimizes human error and improves production efficiency.
Compact plants are easier to maintain because components are more accessible and often standardized. Regular maintenance is straightforward, which reduces downtime and ensures the plant remains productive throughout the project lifecycle.
Small concrete batching plants offer a perfect solution for small and medium-sized construction projects due to their cost-effectiveness, flexibility, and ability to deliver consistent concrete quality. A small concrete plant or ready mix concrete plant allows contractors to operate independently, reduce transportation costs, and optimize project schedules. With lower investment requirements and simplified operation, these plants are well-suited to meet the demands of small and medium-sized construction works while maintaining high standards of efficiency and reliability.
