Dear Fellow Free Atlanteans

First - I want to thank everyone for being here - we created this site in a moment of despair after learning that the site that most of us had fled from Twitter too was just as corrupt as Twitter in its own way. Our goal was to create a haven for free speech and good people and I am very proud that we have succeeded.

We have asked for contributions as infrequently as possible and each time we have been answered with a very generous outpouring of donations that have paid the bills for 3 and 6 months at a time. However, what we haven't gotten is enough recurring donations to keep us going perpetually.

@Andre and @surferistic and I saw this moment approaching back in the months before the election and at that time we decided that our goal was to keep the place running at a minimum through Nov 5 (CONT'D)

The consensus was that if we won the election, FA the USA would be once again on its way to freedom and greatness and we would no longer be as desperately in need of a place like FA. However, had we lost then we were determined to do whatever it takes to keep FA running through the coming dark days.

The first option is that if we have enough sustaining contributions, we are happy to simply keep FA running as is.

The second option is that we are open to transferring the financial responsibility and management of the site to one of you if you have an interested.

And the final option is to simply and gracefully close our doors.

Our total operating costs are just over $200 per month, so this is not a big money operation, but we don't have the contributions to keep going... (CONT'D)

@TXPatriot2021 @Bleukitty @CarolEmmarie Right, yes. I was thinking, though, about a low dollar yearly membership program. This way you would have a continuous stream of revenue. If there were 50 members paying $50/year, that would get you at goal for the $200/mo expenses to run FA.

@CarolEmmarie That sounds like a good idea. When we created this site, there was no safe place to go, but now we have both Truth Social and Twitter. I do think that there is still something to be said for this private little enclave, but if it can't be self-supporting, it just isn't worth it anymore...

Thank you for that update, Bryan.

I'm pleased that we arrived at this point with the optimistic outcome having eventuated, i.e., Trump's imminent return.

I'm grateful for the hard work by @Bryan & @surferistic who brought this place into being, and for the opportunity to contribute to this place in my own way too.

I agree it is time to either wind FA down or to hand over its operation to a committee of dedicated members. I'll of course support any efforts in this regard.

@Andre @surferistic Here is where we stand by numbers. We have approximately 100 people who have been active in the last day, 200 that have been active in the last week, 250 that have been active in the last month, and all-time we have had approximately 4,500 users register. If less than have of the super-active people would pledge even $5 per month, or if 20% of them would pledge $10 per month, we would be fine, but right now we are only taking in about $60 per month so it is what it is...

Hi guys - What is the official way to donate?? I say if you get the minimum amount of donations each month, just keep the site going as it has been. Send out a month reminder as well..

It has been a Godsend to many who post here as far as great Info, Venting, joking around, etc...... and over time there are many other users who have not joined FA officially who post here from all over the Mastodon Universe.

Great Job and Effort Guys over the past 4 Years !

@Andre 😳 I admit I’ll be lost without this place. So much of what we’ve been waiting for is still to come! Seeing people pay for their crimes, seeing if our deductions were right about parts of the crimes and what side people were on…. That said, I know nothing about how to do any of this but will be in a position to contribute on a regular basis at the end of the month. Finally. Been so grateful for those that could help out. Is it too hard to have quarterly fundraisers??

Hi Kat

I am confident that a modest increase in subscribers at $5 per month (40 will cover ongoing costs) plus periodic appeals is a sustainable model for financing FA.

In addition to financial sustainability, there needs to be some operational sustainability in terms of the roles that keep the lights on here.

A few dedicated citizens of Free Atlantis could take up office and periodic vacancies could be similarly filled.

The founders would happily support new the management!

@Andre computers is a language beyond me and I have respect for those that can run things and speak that language. I guess I can see that someday this place may fade away but I’m selfishly not ready for that. We’ve become family in so many ways. I don’t think anyone takes for granted what we have here but we do occasionally need a nudge that time has passed and funds need replenishing. I hope some people can help run things for the future at least a while longer. We have much celebrating to do

@Lori Yes, I understand. But if you have a yearly membership program, you won't have to rely on erratic monthly donations. And the future, at least for a year at a time, is fairly guaranteed. I would gladly use a membership program; it works very well for those who depend on the donation aspect.

I see that this little corner slowly getting lonelier like it has been the over the last year or so. If TRUTH or X is the best place to gather to chat without just dropping out of circulation, then we'll be better off finding a place to gather before everyone scatters and feels left out.

I will contribute to keep FA going, but it is easier for me to do this every six months. Would that work? I do want to keep in touch.

One observation… it seems that our feed is less interactive than in past times. I feel like some algorithm is keeping us siloed, instead of interacting more with each other. Am I alone in feeling so isolated, as of late (the past year especially)?

I’m in favor of the monthly membership fee. Hate the thought of losing my connection to such a compassionate, loving & patriotic group of folks. Our travels together have helped us to see the proverbial β€˜light at the end of the tunnel,’ through the tough times as well as appreciate the truly good in everyone when we celebrate hard fought battles won. However this washes out, I consider this FA experience to be a valuable life lesson among folks for whom I have tremendous respect. Onward!

I propose everyone keen to see FA continuing, chip in $5 today.

Over the next week, go find some other platforms to join and explore.

Then spend 10 to 14 days completely off FA to give your new platforms a shake.

After that if the new ones work out, come back and say goodbye. If enough still think it’s worth staying and making it work, then start a subscription model.

I’ll check with Bryan the different tiers.
