2) they can try to force you to accept unconstitutional release conditions like not attending protests for some length of time
3) they can collect your info (picture, fingerprints, name, possibly DNA)

Yeah pretty much. I too tend to just do the exact opposite of whatever the government or media says to do. Its worked out well thus far, for whatever its worth. I now question everything from special relativity to oil being "fossil" derived. I even am skeptical of viral pathogens being separate organisms, terrain theory is a possible alternative model. From Ang Bayan: NPA Paralyzes Destructive Quarry Operation In Himamaylan City


The New People’s Army (NPA)-South Central Negros (Romeo Nanta Command) sanctioned the destructive quarry operation in Sitio Medel, Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental Province on July 4. The Red army paralyzed and burned two dump trucks and one backhoe.

The quarry equipment belongs to Barangay Carabalan captain Mildred Titular’s business. The total damage to the three quarry machines amounts to an estimated ₱11 million.

NPA-South Central Negros spokesperson Ka Dioneso Magbuelas said residents have long complained about the quarry operation because of its impact on the Paniplan River. He explained that the yearly excavation in the area deepened the river depriving the surrounding farmlands of irrigation.

The quarry operation is severely detrimental to the residents’ lives and livelihood. Crossing the excavation-deepened river has also become dangerous for residents.

Recall that the quarry company forced local residents to sign a “Free, Prior and Informed Consent” or FPIC in 2021 to allow its operations. At that time, the 94th IB was used to intimidate residents, distribute bribe money, and employ other divisive tactics to railroad the quarry operation.

“The NPA-South Central Negros’ punitive action serves as a reminder to companies and individuals against violating the human rights and livelihoods of the people in the name of profit,” Ka Dionesio said. He also warned that the people’s army will not hesitate to defend the people and the environment against quarries, mines, and destructive projects.

“The prevailing Red power in the mountains always stands for justice for the victims of abuse and deception,” Ka Dionesio stated.

Meanwhile, 94th IB troopers have reportedly arrived in Barangay Carabalan following the punitive action of the people’s army. The mercenary army clearly defends the interests of the destructive quarry, landlords, comprador bourgeoisie, and bureaucrat capitalists.

I'm still pissed that I can't add or remove music from my iPod Touch. It's 17 years old, sure, but it works fine. I didn't imagine, when Apple said they were discontinuing support for iPods, that they'd actually *remove functionality.*

Though I also don't know why I'm surprised.

Do you know of any way to get music from your Mac onto an MP3 player? I don't want to use my phone or subscriptions for music, I just want to be able to add a few songs now & again.

Trump just posted a letter to Truth Social saying he’s imposing a 35% tariff on goods coming from Canada and if Canada retaliates the number will go up. Starting August 1, of course, leaving plenty of time for tacos.
THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON July 10, 2025 The Right Honorable Mark Carney, PC, MP Prime Minister of Canada Ottawa Dear Mr. Prime Minister: It is a Great Honor for me to send you this letter in that it demonstrates the strength and commitment of our Trading Relationship, and the fact that the United States of America has agreed to continue working with Canada, despite Canada having financially retaliated against the United States. As you will recall, the United States imposed Tariffs on Canada to deal with our Nation's Fentanyl crisis, which is caused, in part, by Canada's failure to stop the drugs from pouring into our Country. Instead of working with the United States, Canada retaliated with its own Tariffs. Starting August 1, 2025, we will charge Canada a Tariff of 35% on Canadian products sent into the United States, separate from all Sectoral Tariffs. Goods transshipped to evade this higher Tariff will be subject to that higher Tariff. As you are aware, there will be no Tariff if Canada, or companies within your Country, decide to build or manufacture product within the United States and, in fact, we will do everything possible to get approvals quickly, professionally, and routinely — In other words, in a matter of weeks. If for any reason you decide to raise your Tariffs, then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 35% that we charge. Also, I must mention that the flow of Fentanyl is hardly the only challenge we have with Canada, which has many Tariff, and Non-Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers, which cause unsustainable Trade Deficits against the United States. Canada charges extraordinary Tariffs to our Dairy Farmers — up to 400% — and that is even assuming our Dairy Farmers even have access to sell their products to the people of Canada. The Trade Deficit is a major threat to our Economy and, indeed, our National Security!
Canada works with me to stop the flow of Fentanyl, we will, perhaps, consider an adjustment to this letter. These Tariffs may be modified, upward or downward, depending on our relationship with your Country. You will never be disappointed with The United States of America.
