Guy next to me at the cafe I’m working out of this morning gets a call:

“… no we don’t live there anymore… no… no, we don’t live there anymore… are you serious?! [my ears perk up] Is this AI?… It is?!”

Spoke to him afterwards. Apparently “some energy company.” And it was an LLM on the other side. He said it sounded so real (a woman who gave him her name and sounded perfectly normal) until he asked it if it was AI when it responded “yes” and then restarted the script.

Quand on se sent l'élan de lutter contre les GAFAM, on se confronte à un choix : Rester sur les GAFAM pour convaincre, ou se sécuriser et partir ?

Rester, c’est à mes risques et périls. Je peux être tentée de chasser de là les médias d’extrême droite qui alimentent la haine et la désinformation : L’article « Bloquons Bolloré » indique la marche à suivre pour combattre son influence par exemple.

Je pourrais profiter de ces réseaux pour faire de la prévention, et instruire des gens sur place pour les attirer vers les alternatives… Faire mon David contre Golliath qui n'a rien demandé et peut très bien m'insulter s'il se sent envahi…

Ou je peux abandonner mes comptes tels qu'ils sont, ne plus y communiquer de données en cessant de publier et d’envoyer des messages... Seulement voilà, si je garde mes comptes, toutes mes alternatives se révèleront inutiles, et les partager sur les réseaux GAFAM leur donnera de nouveau la main sur mes données...

Même si ça me demande du temps et de la résolution, je peux me sauver d'une relation toxique, d'un pays en guerre, d'une addiction destructrice...

Alors je peux aussi bien quitter les GAFAM pour me sécuriser, au risque d’en inspirer d’autres.

Si je veux me distancer sans rompre, je peux apprendre à limiter les dégâts en les utilisant de façon plus responsable.

Si je veux rompre radicalement, je peux supprimer définivement mes comptes Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail, tout Google, Amazon, les abandonner pas à pas malgré l'influence sociétale, chercher les alternatives qui me conviennent… peut-être faire la prévention par d’autres moyens : QR code, bouche à oreille...

Je fais ce que je peux pour retirer mes données personnelles du net... Le ConsoMag de France TV n'invite pas pour autant à sortir des GAFAM, mais il communique la procédure pénale :

Je peux retirer mon consentement pour que mes données personnelles soient supprimées sur le site que je contacte, en lui faisant une demande d'effacement des données personnelles.

• Pour ça il faut d'abord réclamer ses données. Sur Facebook par exemple, on peut télécharger toutes ses données personnelles, “depuis le début”. Voilà la marche à suivre pour récupérer ses données Facebook. Pour les autres sites on peut trouver si c'est possible en fouillant un peu.

• Ensuite il faut réclamer la suppression, totale et définitive, de toutes les données personnelles qu'ils ont en main à mon sujet. Voici Une lettre type de demande d'effacement des données personnelles

Voilà la marche à suivre pour faire une demande d'effacement détaillée par une juriste.

Le CNIL, Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés, peut m'aider, à commencer par cet article sur le droit de l’effacement, et je peux le saisir en contactant un DPO (Délégué à la Protection des Données) si on ne supprime pas mes données 30 jours après ma demande. Il faut en garder la copie pour preuve juridique.

Si tu rencontres ce genre de problème, tu peux aussi te faire conseiller par le Barreau de Nantes, ou ton assurance juridique si tu en as une, sans forcément aller jusqu'à engager une procédure.

• Une fois que mes données sont effacées, je demande à ce que mon compte soit définitivement supprimé. Sur certains sites la demande se fait en ligne, mais la méthode diffère. Pour certains site la suppression du compte est laborieuse, car aucune information sur la marche à suivre n'est communiquée. C'est le cas de DEKRA-NORISKO.FR. Les sites ME-DESINSCRIRE.FR et JUST DELET ME peuvent aider à comprendre comment supprimer son compte en fonction de chaque site.


Un peu laborieux à réclamer, les données privées... !

Certains disent que c’est trop tard, qu’à partir du moment où on les leur cède, nos données leur reviennent. Mais les données qu’ils n’ont pas, ce sont toujours celles qu’on ne leur a pas encore données.

Sachant cela… où aller ?

Vers un portable basique qui ne sert qu'à composer des numéros et résister à l'appel de la nouvelle technologie? Pas impossible. De préférence le récupérer chez un ami ou en magasin, éviter de commander sur amazon et en Chine...

Mais, pour ceux qui veulent céder à la tentation du numérique? Par exemple, pour partager leurs idées ou leurs créations... Ils font comment pour se rendre visibles?

En suivant les conseils d'EXODUS, (L'application phare de F-Droid pour surveiller les traceurs et les autorisations de tes applications)

En prenant de cours gratuits sur l'application ePoc téléchargeable sur le Playstore et tout Android. Elle est validée par Alexis Kaufman, une célébrité de Framasoft.

Le Site de Louis Derrac contient aussi des ressources précises et précieuses. Il est spécialisé dans son domaine et donne des cours sur les alternatives numériques.


Cela dit, le mieux est de se faire accompagner, et s'adresser à un GUL (Groupe d'Utilisateurs de Linux). Voici les permanences d'accueil à Nantes.

Mais je maintiens que FRAMASOFT avec sa campagne “Deggoglisons internet” et LA QUADRATURE DU NET sont des ressources phares pour commencer.

Bien sur, je t'incite à éprouver les ressources que je te partage. A nous de mener l'enquête sur les propriétaires des sites qui hébergent nos données, afin de savoir ce qu'ils en font, où elles vont, à quoi ressemble leur politique de protection des données, la mettre à l'épreuve de notre esprit critique, et lever le doigt pour reprendre le contrôle sur les paramètres des sites et des navigateurs que nous utilisons.

Si tu as l'élan de découvrir l'Open Source, assure-toi qu'il s'agit bien d'Open Source, et fie-toi à tes critères et tes préférences.

Dans tous les cas, il serait peut-être temps d'abandonner l’illusion que les technologies vont nous sauver de nos besoins humains. Bien sur qu'internet n'est plus la terre promise qu'on s'imaginais... Mais sachant cela, qu'est-ce qu'on en fait? Le premier couplet de “Bienvenu sur internet”, par Matthieu Sommet, mériterait peut-être une suite...

Même si c'était vrai, c'est quoi cette course à l'échalotte de qui travaille le plus d'heures ? Est-ce que le pays qui travaille le plus (apparemment la Grèce, en Europe) est celui qui se porte le mieux ? Quel rapport peut-on établir entre la quantité de travail et la prospérité ou le bien-être des habitants ? Et est-ce que c'est vraiment ça le facteur important dans l'équation ? Sans redistribution, est-ce qu'on travaille pas dans le vent ? Et quand bien même, on parle toujours quantité, mais quid de sa qualité ?

La "valeur travail" a été érigée comme telle parce qu'elle n'a plus aucun lien avec la réalité et que pourtant les possédants ont tjs envie de nous voir courir pour eux comme des poulets sans tête même si on y meurt d'épuisemt. Ça a pour grande vertu de nous priver d'interroger une VALEUR (c'est tabou) qui sert un système arbitraire d'exploitation (non pas Windows), à l'heure où l'humanité a les moyens techniques d'un peu s'en libérer et de mieux le répartir (pour satisfaire nos besoins réels). Federated Services are services which many instances form a network to provide a greater whole than the sum of their parts, each participant in the Fediverse is an “instance”. A message or other item made available on one instance is visible and available on other instances.

We make these services available to all people who do not abuse it in order to promote the values of Free Speech, and those of the United States Constitution First Amendment. A free republic is not possible without free speech and commercial mainstream media do not provide it. We also get some advertisement benefit from hosting these, it is our hope that people who see how fast and responsible our ser
vices are will decide to do hosting or use other paid services here.

There are numerous federated services available, we offer Macrobloging platform Friendica, Hubzilla; Microbloging services Mastodon, Misskey, a federated search engine, Yacy, and a federated cloud service, Nextcloud.

Macrobloging services are message systems that allow long form posts similar in format to Facebook. These allow for works of fiction, poetry, technical papers, news items, short stories, and more. These formats are most useful for discussion of social issues.

Microbloging services allow only short form posts similar in format to Twitter. While you can link to larger articles elsewhere, you have a relatively short character limit and so can not post them directly.

Censorship, is handled much different on the fediverse than on mainstream media like Twitter or Facebook. On the fediverse, each individual instance is responsible for content available on that instance, but does not censor the rest of the network. Thus if you find the rules of one instance too constraining you can move to another.

Federated search engines are analogous to federated message systems in that each instance chooses what portion of the internet it wants to crawl. When you enter a search term, the local instance queries all of the federated instances, collates and sorts the results and presents them to you. As with messages, each instance can have it’s own censorship policies but no one instance can censor the enti
re network.

Given the wild-west nature of the fediverse, it is probably not suitable for children under 14, and you’re guaranteed to find some material that will offend virtually everyone. With federated search engines, material that is inappropriate will usually be flagged sensitive or nsfw (not safe for work) so as long as you don’t expand material marked as such, you can avoid this sort of material. Ther
e are occasionally people who violate these rules, we do our best to remove such individuals none the less some will get through.

Friendica is a decentralized long format macrobloging message network. It is similar in format to facebook however there is no centralized censorship. Also, it is able to federate with all other federated message systems which use ActivityPub protocol and also we have extensions that allow it to speak to several other networks via other protocols.

Hubzilla is similar in message format to Friendica in that it allows long posts. However, it specializes in it’s ability to provide connectivity to multiple protocols and so we include it in our mix of federated services primarily for the better connectivity it offers. Hubzilla provides a great deal of interoperability between many networks though ActivityPub is still it’s prim
ary protocol. Hubzilla gives you a greater degree of control over privacy than some of the other networks. You can create private channels that are served between hubzilla instances and other compatible instances.

Mastodon is first and foremost an alternative to Twitter. While Twitter has Tweets, Mastodon has Toots. The format is very similar. Mastodon toots have a limit of 500 characters. Similar to the short limit of Twitter. This is why this platform is referred to as a Microbloging format. Mastodon interacts with other ActivityPub instances however when a long form blog post from another i
nstance arrives, you are only shown a short portion with a link to follow to see the full post on the originating site.

Nextcloud If you are a customer of Eskimo North, your login credentials will work without a domain extension to access Nextcloud. If you are not a customer you can apply for a Nextcloud account using your choice of login and password, in this case the login should include your originating network. Pixelfed is a federated pixel gallery. A place where you can share your photos to the widest audience possible, and you can view what others have shared. We now have this site also properly federated so any images you share can be viewed on any other Fediverse site by users who follow you, and you can view images posted by anyone on any fediverse site whom you follow.

Yacy is a federated search engine. There are several thousand instances on the Internet. Each instances crawls whatever portion of the web the administrator requested. It is also possible for the administrator of a site with relatively few resources to request a larger site to do crawls on their behalf. Unfortunately, it does not provide a method for an end user to initiate a crawl, but if you send e-mail to support@eskimo.com and request a crawl, we will initiate a crawl on your behalf.

A shell is a command line interface for an operating system. With most shell providers, a command line interface on one flavor of Linux or Unix is all you get. Eskimo North provides access to eight different popular Linux distributions and SunOS Unix. Eskimo North also full remote desktop capabilities using X2Go with sound, and also NX, VNC, and RPD without sound.

Account Types
We offer four different levels of shell accounts: Economy, Standard, Power, and Enterprise. Background tasks such as IRC bots, Game Servers, and the like are permitted on all account types except student. IRC servers are not permitted because of their tendency to draw denial of service attacks. Standard, Power, Enterprise, and Super-Max shells include a MySQL database allowing you to run a variety of LAMP stack based applications on your website and to use non-web based applications that require a database.

Web Hosting
Web hosting under our domain is provided with all shell accounts. You can host your own domains with virtual domains or web hosting packages.

Remote Desktop
Remote desktop capability is like having a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers plugged right into our servers. Because our servers can be accessed anywhere in the world, this allows you to have a work environment you can access from anywhere in the world without risking losing your files to a laptop, tablet, or phone thief. We offer remote desktop capabilities on all of our shell servers except for the SunOS server. We support x2go, nx, vnc, and rdp protocols. X2go is the best choice as it provides extremely efficient compression and X round trip removal as well as sound.

Applications
Applications include Office Suites such as Libre Office and Caligra (which can read and write Microsoft Office file formats), Web and Program Development tools such as Bluefish Editor as well as many other editors, compilers, interpreters, scripting languages, debuggers, profilers, and online documentation.

E-mail
Our e-mail system offers unprecedented flexibility. You can access your mail via shell mail readers including graphical mailers like Thunderbird, or via Web mail, or via pop-3 and imap mail protocols, complete with TLS encryption. Our mail system includes Bayesian filtering with Spam Assassin which can be individually configured for your needs. Procmail allows you to sort and process mail automatically. Smartlist allows you to maintain mailing lists.

Security[color]
Access to all of our servers is available via strong encryption. The shell servers all support ssh access. All of the remote desktop protocols tunnel via ssh. We maintain all of our servers up to date keep with the latest patches. Backups are made weekly.

Available Shell Servers

We have a variety of Linux Servers with a variety of Linux Distributions and Desktop Environments. Linux servers in use here are of three basic lines, those derived from RedHat, such as Fedora, Centos, and Scientific Linux, and those derived from Debian such as Debian, Ubuntu, and Mint. Ubuntu is the most current and feature rich. Then there is Manjaro, derived from Arch Linux. Arch is more often broken because it is a real “do it yourself” Linux, an excellent learning platform, a good development platform, not a good production platform.

All of these servers are available if you have a shell account here. You can use them to learn various versions, decide which to install, and as one place you can develop applications for all versions. We install a wide variety of development tools on all of our publicly available servers.

Our servers listen to port 443 in addition to the standard ssh port of 22 to provide a means to connect from behind a firewall that blocks non-web access. You can also utilize Guacamole on our website (login public, password public).

Alma.Eskimo.Com
This server is running Alma 8. Alma Linux replaces Scientific Linux after it’s discontinuation. Presently we are running Alma 8 because Alma 9 does not support NIS out of the box although there are ways of hacking it in. It is unfortunate that Redhat chose to piss on the infrastructure so many organizations depend upon. This is why we tend to favor Debian derived flavors. None the less as Redhat derived software goes Alma is pretty solid.

Anduinos is a Debian derived distribution that defaults to a Gnome Desktop themed to look like Windows 10. At present though this Desktop is not working over network connections, instead Mate and Gnome are presently available. I am working on some others.

Debian Bullseye has a rich assortment of software installed, including hundreds of Games, a huge variety of Office Productivity software, many Educational and Scientific applications, a variety of Integrated Development Environments, and many programming languages. All of the documentation available online these applications is also loaded.
Fedora.Eskimo.Com
Fedora Rawhide can be accessed graphically using x2go and the Mate desktop. It has the most applications of any of the Redhat derived servers. I install just about everything I can get to work on this machine so it has a huge variety of applications installed.
Kali.Eskimo.Com
Kali is a special purpose shell server designed for penetration testing. It is primarily here to test our own internal security, and as a result, egress is extremely limited, however upon request, proof of IP space ownership, and permission of the owner and agreement to hold us harmless because it is possible some of these tests may be destructive, we will allow outbound for testing of other sites.
Manjaro.Eskimo.Com
Manjaro is a good choice for a Linux user who wants to just install and go. There is a pleasant user interface and a good choice of software in the Manjaro repositories. It is a less technical Linux than Ubuntu, you can do most things through graphical interfaces and the default xfce interface is extremely light in terms of memory footprint. Like most modern distros, a variety of Windows systems are available and we have Gnome, Mate, KDE, Xfce, LXDE, and LXQT installed.
Mint.Eskimo.Com
Mint is another recent addition to our shell servers. It is running Mint, although we have the Mate Desktop installed for graphical access. This is necessary because Unity and other compositing Desktops are incompatible with x2go and really work very roughly with VNC. If you like games, this is a good server to use and there are many installed. Mint is a derivative of Ubuntu which in turn is derived from Debian and this server thus follows the structure and layout of Debian and Ubuntu.
MxLinux.Eskimo.Com
MxLinux is an excellent choice for a computer with limited resources. Before the overhead of a Desktop is considered, MxLinux uses 200MB less RAM out of the box than does Ubuntu. If you’re not a fan of Poettering and Systemd, you’ll like this OS as it still uses a System-V init with Systemd shims to allow packages requiring systemd to function. You can also run systemd and in fact I am doing so because it boots faster. The default Desktop is LXDE which is also small and efficient. But if you like eye candy you can install any Desktop you like and as with other servers I will install all that I can get to work on this OS.
PopOS.Eskimo.Com
popOS is a modern appearing OS based upon Ubuntu, and not just indirectly, it actually utilizes Ubuntu’s repositories in addition to it’s own. The Desktops presently available on it are Gnome and Mate, though Gnome is a special edition known as Sparkle, and it does not operate properly with X2go. Presently X2go and ssh are the only two access methods. I am working on the others.
Rocky8.Eskimo.Com
Rocky8 is a RedHat derived operating system very similar to Centos before Centos was absorbed, and ruined, by Redhat. While Centos support, with the exception of Centos9 is going away on June 30th, 2024, and CentOS9 is not usable because of the deletion of NIS by RedRat which is necessary to our organization, Rocky8 will be supported for security updates through May of 2029, thus provides us a means of continuing to offer a Redhat based environment for another five years.

Ubuntu.Eskimo.Com
Ubuntu can be accessed graphically using x2go and the Mate Desktop. The native Unity desktop is a compositing desktop which is incompatible with x2go. This machine is equipped with many applications including a huge number of games, a rich assortment of development tools and computer programming languages, a huge assortment of Office productivity software, many scientific, electronic, and educational tools.
Zorin.Eskimo.Com
Zorin is a Ubuntu derived operating system. It combines the eye candy of some other Ubuntu flavors such as Mint, with the security awareness and up to date nature of Ubuntu providing a really superb server environment. This machine is our best equipped server. It has the full Ubuntu Studio Suite, a very large assortment of development tools, language packs for all supported languages, many games, both Libre and Caligra Office Suites, and much more. X2go is supported on this machine.

Crontab access, batch, and background jobs are allowed on all of our servers. Most have unrestricted outbound access with the exception of kali owing to high abuse potential for tools that exist on it.'

We also offer web hosting, e-mail, and virtual private servers.

To greet comrades Aldo and Lucas Hernandez in this difficult stage of the trial against them is, once again, to validate the insurrectional action. It is to support and understand the necessity of the forceful action for which Aldo is accused. An action that, by the way, shook the daily life inside this prison. An action that, like few others, made solidarity be felt in all its breadth.

The judicial spectacle is prepared, the anti-anarchist Prosecutor already has all his cards ready to return to condemn anarchists of action to harsh sentences, however, in the face of this adverse panorama, they will find themselves with dignified and whole comrades assumed in a life of combat as they have well demonstrated during these years of confinement. Aldo’s situation has been complicated by being classified and locked up, these last months, in a maximum security module where it is not clear when he will be able to get out.

All the strength for Aldo and Lucas with the certainty that no sentence is eternal and knowing that every action is worth it.

I know, it is clear to me, that they will face this stage with all the solidity that characterizes them, firm in their convictions, as they have shown in and out of jail, in word and action.

In times when news, ideas and initiatives seem to have a superfluous, instantaneous and innocuous character, you have given a lesson of fortitude and antagonistic solidarity, you are and have been truly comrades to count on, who could doubt your commitment? How many others have put their will at the disposal of solidarity? Or of vengeance?

They are exceptional compañeros! And that is a treasure that will always accompany them.

Prison is a sub-world where many get lost, but this is only the consequence of our actions. It is important to have the clear notion that once you have taken the path there is no turning back. Here we do not play at being a revolutionary, here our lives go happily as we give ourselves body and soul to strike against the tyrannical and oppressive enemy of our people and popular people. Prison is only a method and silent tool of the state to break the will of the people, but the conscience is never silent and that keeps us unbreakable in the face of any attempt of the miserable gears of this oppressive force. In this intramural walk where many looks have been almost a home based on the complicity and unique spark that scream freedom, I have met some beautiful comrades among them Lucas and Aldo who are about to face another process within a larger one, they keep their heads up ready to continue opening the way as many of us who remain prisoners making these filthy walls one more trench of war and thus move forward without stopping.

I want to leave these brief words as a way of complicity with all the prisoners and their families who resist inside and outside the prisons, to all the subversive comrades, anarchists, nihilists and rebels.

No dungeon, nor any of its guards will be able to put an end to our spirit that spreads like water in its channel, nourishing life itself.

Our weapons thirsty for popular justice claim our hands to aim them and occupy them against the defenders of misery.

I would like to begin by greeting all the comrades deprived of liberty in the different prisons throughout the country, to all of them my warmest greetings along with my respect to each one of them for bearing with dignity the unworthy, cruel, unjust and increasingly barbaric prison system to which we have been unjustly subjected.

On repeated occasions we cry out for justice, indeed we demand it, but have we ever thought to whom we demand it?

Yes… no more and no less than to those who throughout time and history have committed the greatest atrocities, human massacres, extermination of peoples, coup d’états, wars, colonization of “savage” peoples to “civilize” them, all this to increase their economic and territorial power and thus be able to have control over the rest of the people. All these actions have their consequences thousands of dead, disappeared, irreparable damages to our nuke mapu and its mongüeil itrofil.

All this supported and endorsed by laws that the kapitalist system through its various faithful dogs, its governments and institutions leave it unpunished, letting it be seen in the light as an act done in the name of science, technology or in the name of god

The bases of this system will be in charge of sentencing our comrades Aldo and Lucas, those who know them can attest to the drive, courage, bravery and conviction of these comrades, qualities that lead them to be today facing unjust accusations, which in practice, if they are real, could only be called popular justice.

Compañeras and compañeros, difficult times are coming for Aldo and Lucas. The enemy is vengeful, we must not forget it, the territory they are going through is difficult, we must be more present than ever, especially in this coming stage.

Regional Resistance Factions Respond to the Zionist Aggression in Syria


Regional anti-colonial Resistance factions released statements denouncing the Zionist aggression against Syria.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad condemns the zionist strike on Damascus, claiming that “israel” is trying to fragment the region through violence. The movement reaffirms solidarity with Syria and supports its right to resist by all means, stressing the importance of Syrian unity.

The DFLP links the attacks to Netanyahu’s regional ambitions, criticizing “israel’s” daily violations of Arab sovereignty. It calls for Arab and international action and warns that the affected peoples will resist with dignity.

Ansarallah denounced the “israeli” strike on Syria as part of a larger imperialist scheme to dominate the Arab and Islamic world. They call for a unified Arab-Islamic response and an end to silence in the face of “israeli” aggression.

Hezbollah framed the attack on Syria as part of “israel’s” long-term plan to dominate and divide the region. It calls for Syrian unity with a unified Arab and Islamic resistance, emphasizing that “israel’s” real goal is total regional subjugation.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command condemned the “israeli” aggression on Syria, emphasizing that “israel” remains the central existential enemy of the Arab nation. The statement affirmed that resistance is the only natural response to the occupation’s crimes, and that national, Arab, and Islamic unity among resistance forces is the most effective defense against “israel’s” plans and normalization efforts. Supporting the resistance, especially in Palestine, is seen as essential to sustaining the struggle and achieving genuine liberation for the land and the broader Arab and Islamic nations.

The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement condemns the zionist aggression on Syria as part of a broader U.S.-“israeli” campaign to destabilize the region. It identifies “israel” as the main threat to regional unity and calls for resistance and Arab-Islamic unity to confront its aggression and expansionist plans.

Hamas issued a strong condemnation of the recent zionist aggression against Syria.
The movement stated that this fascist aggression, which led to the martyrdom of dozens of Syrian army, security forces, and civilians, is a blatant violation of international law. Hamas affirmed full solidarity with Syria and called on all Arab and Islamic nations, alongside the free people of the world, to unite and confront this continuous zionist aggression and the occupation’s plans targeting the region’s will and independence.
