Over twenty years ago I helped build a public wood-fired bread oven in Parc Sans Nom in the plateau/mile-end. That's the park next to the van horne overpass/skatepark under the bridge. We didn't ask permission. We built it from bricks we pulled out of a dumpster. We flagged down a concrete truck to get the slab poured. We had a pizza party or a few. We formed a non-profit and the city fought us tooth and nail til we had to eventually lock it up. We had multiple back and forths and met all their demands until they literally wanted us to install a 3 storey chimney on this tiny little bread oven. It obviously wasn't a feasible solution and said if we fired it up again we would be heavily fined. They tore it down and the little mounds of grass in the park to this day cover the remnants of our old bread oven. This was one of my first lessons in Montreal about the inefficacy and absolute batshit bullshit bureaucracy that keeps public grassroots projects from being successful. The government doesn't have your interests in mind, they never will, so do what you want and build whatever community projects you want and ask questions later. It will work, or it won't, but you'll do it and that's more than most will do. This is the Montreal I know and will continue to keep alive.

Mon copain Christophe vient de publier ce fascinant essai. Il se penche sur une version slavonne méconnue de "la Guerre des Juifs" de Flavius Josèphe dans laquelle la référence à Jésus n'est pas, cette fois, grossièrement interpolée. Il y démontre que cette version slavonne descend probablement de la première rédaction araméenne de l’œuvre, les autres versions descendant de la réécriture en grec destinée à Vespasien, et donc modifiée pour raisons politiques.

Eh oui, la pluie, le vent, quelquefois la neige. Avril n'est pas le bon mois ! Deux fois, je suis allé randonner à cette époque pour quelques jours dans le Cantal. A chaque fois, en une semaine, j'ai eu droit à tout : la neige, la pluie, une terrible tempête qui, sur les crêtes, nous jetait par terre.
J'ai eu aussi de belles journées, mais en septembre. Ceci-dit, j'ai bien aimé. Cela change des Alpes.
