We have a pair of bats that fly around our back garden every evening. They buzz the windows in the living room, probably after the spiders on our house. Not sure what type they are but they've been present for a good few years now.

Personally, I just can't abide the way everything looks. Back in the '90s you'd play these games and think "wow, just imagine if the devs could have fully realized what they envisaged..." and then it happened: FF13 looked basically like the prerendered cutscenes in the PSX era, and we saw how stupid their vision actually was.
The blocky lego-man graphics gave the writers license to do things that aren't acceptable anymore. It left more to your imagination, so that as you're drawn into the story the characters sound a certain way in your head and you imagine the abstract polygons being a certain way. You naturally interpret things in ways that make sense to you, even if it's diametrically opposed to what the devs intended.
Now it's all 2K graphics and voice-acted, so there's nowhere for the stupidity to hide.

I had an abscessed tooth last week, and I'm furious about the over-correction on pain meds for acute pain. That shit hurt like a mutha, and I couldn't get a pain pill! I can't tell you how many NSAIDs I took, lol. Poor liver. My doctor is scared to prescribe. Gov't is harsh on them. Not 1 doc or pharma criminal was arrested. Who suffers because of criminals? The people! You can't trust the street that it won't be cut w/fentanyl or some other crap, but people are. Teeth should be exempted.
@CarolEmmarie It's awful. My neighbor broke her arm and couldn't get a couple. People are not happy about it. Old people are buying it black market, lol. But I'm talking about for acute pain, like a tooth or broken bones. There are therapies that really work for people in chronic pain.

I think about how 80% of people have just...erased the pandemic, and the obvious, proven consequences of catching COVID over and over again, from their minds - and it reminds me of how many have absorbed and discarded the facts of Israel's genocide and concentration camps in the same way.
The West has relied on a kind of psychic and ideological opium for so long to keep consuming and ravening the world that it can't cope with reality now that we can't bully or bribe our way out of this mess.
It seems wacky, tbh, that we're still trying to do that. I'm reminded of a friend who I managed to convince that COVID would fuck up him and his family if he didn't take steps, and he told me "listen, even if that's true, I want my kids to have a normal high school experience" and that was the end of it.
The aesthetic of "normal high school experience" was actually more compelling to him than the *fact* that multiple COVID infections would eventually sicken everyone he loves.
Folks will straight up just be like "self-defense", then you show them one-in-the-head, two-in-the-chest toddlers killed by IDF snipers, or 2,000 lb bombs dropped on full schools, or tens of thousands of babies starving to death, and they just say "self-defense" or "human shields".

There are men who are threatened by women in their profession and hobbies, but they belong to a superset of men who are completely incredulous that a woman could possibly have the intellectual capacity to genuinely enjoy and partake in the same interests and jobs traditionally held by men. It’s all rooted in misogyny and tbh, even if you answer all his questions satisfactorily he will still think you’re a fraud, a pick-me, a diversity hire, or whatever other term is popular to invalidate women.

We already have a constitution. Have had since 1215. The US constitution was a copy of the French constitution. Ours was much better and included equality therefore did not allow for slavery etc. which was made illegal in 1068. If we remove the monarchy we become a short term dictatorship like the US so I would rather keep them.

Liebe Frau Paus, das ist ein Narrativ, welches die Verantwortung der CDU/CSU relativiert, ja bagatellisiert. Ich höre da die Grüne, die irgendwann mal wieder mit der CDU koalieren möchte, die also fürs Publikum ein bisschen auf die Pauke haut, aber immer sagen kann, sie habe die CDU/CSU ja nicht wirklich angegriffen.

#Brosius-Gersdorf hat eine elegante #Zeitmaschine erfunden, ist drei Jahre in die Zukunft gereist, hat abgeschrieben, das Ganze dann, zurück in der Vergangenheit, hinterlistig als ihr eigenes Werk ausgegeben & schon hat man einen erdbebenartigen #Niuskandal. Ich habe Verständnis, dass bei einem so komplexen Vorgang das typische #CDUHirn spahntan in Flammen aufgeht. Dass sich aber die #SPD instinktiv auf den Rücken zu werfen scheint, zeigt mir, dass die Jahre der Groko ggf. nicht gut getan haben.

@echopapa Die Farben machen auch etwas surreales daraus. Alles Kunstlicht, alle unterschiedlich bunt, Textur aus endlos Fraktalen von Balkonen und Klimageräten.
Gibt auch wenige Nachtaufnahmen von der Kowloon Walled City, nicht ganz so bunt wie das Monster Building, aber man muß zweimal hinsehen, um die Unterschiede zu sehen.
Und man findet in Hongkong noch ne ganze Menge mehr solcher Wohnblöcke, incl. ein wenig BladeRunner Feeling wenn von oben das Kondenswasser von Klimaanlagenruntergeplätschert kommt.
@echopapa @carstenraddatz aber das neon stirbt leider immer mehr. Mittlerweile sind es so, wenn ich ein Foto von einem Neonsschold sehe das Schild schon mal in echt gesehen habe und wahrscheinlich weiß wo es ist. Und ich war erst drei mal dort.
