I think about how 80% of people have just...erased the pandemic, and the obvious, proven consequences of catching COVID over and over again, from their minds - and it reminds me of how many have absorbed and discarded the facts of Israel's genocide and concentration camps in the same way.
The West has relied on a kind of psychic and ideological opium for so long to keep consuming and ravening the world that it can't cope with reality now that we can't bully or bribe our way out of this mess.

I'm reminded of a friend who I managed to convince that COVID would fuck up him and his family if he didn't take steps, and he told me "listen, even if that's true, I want my kids to have a normal high school experience" and that was the end of it.
The aesthetic of "normal high school experience" was actually more compelling to him than the *fact* that multiple COVID infections would eventually sicken everyone he loves.

in reply to John • • •Folks will straight up just be like "self-defense", then you show them one-in-the-head, two-in-the-chest toddlers killed by IDF snipers, or 2,000 lb bombs dropped on full schools, or tens of thousands of babies starving to death, and they just say "self-defense" or "human shields".
Their minds replace everything with scenes from the Israeli Cinematic Universe in real time. The context they operate with is so aesthetic and illusory that they can justify literally any act simply by applying it.
