Personally, I just can't abide the way everything looks. Back in the '90s you'd play these games and think "wow, just imagine if the devs could have fully realized what they envisaged..." and then it happened: FF13 looked basically like the prerendered cutscenes in the PSX era, and we saw how stupid their vision actually was.
The blocky lego-man graphics gave the writers license to do things that aren't acceptable anymore. It left more to your imagination, so that as you're drawn into the story the characters sound a certain way in your head and you imagine the abstract polygons being a certain way. You naturally interpret things in ways that make sense to you, even if it's diametrically opposed to what the devs intended.
Now it's all 2K graphics and voice-acted, so there's nowhere for the stupidity to hide.

I had an abscessed tooth last week, and I'm furious about the over-correction on pain meds for acute pain. That shit hurt like a mutha, and I couldn't get a pain pill! I can't tell you how many NSAIDs I took, lol. Poor liver. My doctor is scared to prescribe. Gov't is harsh on them. Not 1 doc or pharma criminal was arrested. Who suffers because of criminals? The people! You can't trust the street that it won't be cut w/fentanyl or some other crap, but people are. Teeth should be exempted.
@CarolEmmarie It's awful. My neighbor broke her arm and couldn't get a couple. People are not happy about it. Old people are buying it black market, lol. But I'm talking about for acute pain, like a tooth or broken bones. There are therapies that really work for people in chronic pain.
Garden update: a couple of the tomato plants look like they're about to start really growing, same with a couple of the zuccs - there are flower buds developing in a kind of cluster, and the beans are beaning. Never worry about beans, they're fine. Beans are champs, in my experience. Keep 'em happy and they grow happy. They're the clams of the vegetable world. Happy as a bean plant, baybee.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the corn: mmmmmaybe they'll start shooting up in the next week? I know they like to gather their energy before a spurt, but I'm so anxious at how late in the season it's getting and how short my 6 corn stalks still are.

I think about how 80% of people have just...erased the pandemic, and the obvious, proven consequences of catching COVID over and over again, from their minds - and it reminds me of how many have absorbed and discarded the facts of Israel's genocide and concentration camps in the same way.
The West has relied on a kind of psychic and ideological opium for so long to keep consuming and ravening the world that it can't cope with reality now that we can't bully or bribe our way out of this mess.

I'm reminded of a friend who I managed to convince that COVID would fuck up him and his family if he didn't take steps, and he told me "listen, even if that's true, I want my kids to have a normal high school experience" and that was the end of it.
The aesthetic of "normal high school experience" was actually more compelling to him than the *fact* that multiple COVID infections would eventually sicken everyone he loves.
Folks will straight up just be like "self-defense", then you show them one-in-the-head, two-in-the-chest toddlers killed by IDF snipers, or 2,000 lb bombs dropped on full schools, or tens of thousands of babies starving to death, and they just say "self-defense" or "human shields".

There are men who are threatened by women in their profession and hobbies, but they belong to a superset of men who are completely incredulous that a woman could possibly have the intellectual capacity to genuinely enjoy and partake in the same interests and jobs traditionally held by men. It’s all rooted in misogyny and tbh, even if you answer all his questions satisfactorily he will still think you’re a fraud, a pick-me, a diversity hire, or whatever other term is popular to invalidate women.

I like getting noticed by animals. I forgot to say, but yesterday on my walk back from the Y I passed the used-bookstore-cats standing in front of their used bookstore. One cat was doing it's own thing with a dandelion bush (maybe eating bugs?) but the other was clearly looking to get pets, and when it saw me looking at it, its whole body changed, switching from alert to beckoning.
I pet the being, it kneaded the pavement in that kitty-cat way, but gave me nail-on-chalkboard-secondhand sensations, but otherwise it was a pleasant interaction. I feel both our days were improved by the meeting.
(I do not complain as much as the US president but my complaints are of far better quality, and I am committed to keep that quality high by complaining more about local things while still keeping an eye on international affairs that need complaining about)

We already have a constitution. Have had since 1215. The US constitution was a copy of the French constitution. Ours was much better and included equality therefore did not allow for slavery etc. which was made illegal in 1068. If we remove the monarchy we become a short term dictatorship like the US so I would rather keep them.
