They closed the voting place (library) down at 8pm sharp, and the cops told everyone in line to go home. We were probably 150~200 people back in line.
We all waited that long, even in the fucking rain, only to be ordered to leave?!
If it matters (which it probably does), our state doesn't have early voting, you get one day to do it and that's it.
Wait 2 goddamn hours, partly in the rain, only to get shut down with around 200 people or so waiting to vote?!

Having worked the polls: if you are in line to vote, you get to vote. The cops do not have any grounds to order you to leave your polling location because it’s “too late”. That is a violation of your rights as a citizen. The correct response is “make me; and if you do, I’ll have your fucking job, officer”.

Also, if you're in line to vote and the polling place is set to close, you still have the right to cast your ballot, no matter how long it takes. They can turn new people away, but they can't just close up and send people home if they've been waiting. If you were told to leave, those cops violated the law. And if they absolutely had to close, they're required to give out provisional ballots. Know your rights dude.

As for the technical results of the strike and the extent of damage at the three targeted sites, that remains uncertain, we’re still awaiting the official Iranian position.
What stands out so far in Iran’s immediate reactions is that Iranian state TV claimed the nuclear materials and technology had been relocated prior to the American strike. I’m not sure which entity issued this statement.
Frankly, that’s a strange position. Countries that want to prevent further strikes don’t say such things, they claim everything was destroyed.
If Iran truly did move its nuclear materials and safeguard them in secret locations to allow for the eventual rebuilding of the program, then publicly saying they were untouched makes little sense, unless the aim is to downplay the strike’s effectiveness to avoid the need for an Iranian retaliation.
aj has the shittiest analysis. chances are no real was damage done. just like everyone has said. even the bunker buster can't get 90m deep. 30-40m tops. And successive hits won't each take another 30-40. The rock gets packed down so successive hits make less progress. granted there is motivation to save face in front of the nation, the iranian people. But if there's radioactive fallout, the IR can't just lie away about it. They will be forced to respond. Thus far, i still think the u.s. attack was all show. Let's see what the next few hours bring.

it's poignant that they were only able to secure such legendary artists for the movie because they were so neglected at the time. Before I saw the Blues Brothers I'd heard of Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and James Brown but never really got what the big deal was, this clued me in and I'm forever grateful.

It was on the receiving table I sat next to as I signed books after a book-tour reading, and I snuck peeks at the back cover while I chatted with the long line of attendees.
By the time the line was cleared, there was no question that I was going to buy this book, even though it wasn't formally for sale for a couple days (the bookstore staff were kind enough to make an exception for me, not least because I promised them that I wouldn't get a chance to read it for quite some time as I flitted from city to city on the rest of the tour).
The Blues Brothers has been been a big part of my life. I joined a group in Melbourne who performed along side the monthly screenings for years. I met my wife there. A group of us were invite to the filming of the sequel and are extras in the movie. We got to meet Dan and the band. I love the music and searched for more of that music. I will definitely look for this book.
