Advice on migrating from Ubuntu server to another server OS
Hi all. I'm currently running a home server using Ubuntu OS, but I'd like to try and explore other options for operating systems to better my skills with linux/unix.
Currently I'm considering switching to Fedora server (though feedback is welcome) because I've been running it as my daily OS for a few months now and I quite like it. I'm also looking at Debian server because that's what my old professor used and he did nothing but speak its praises.
Only issue is I'm concerned about data loss from moving the installation. Currently, the server is setup to run several Docker images running my programs. While moving over the images shouldn't be difficult whatsoever, I'm afraid my storage setup might not be so easy. Currently, it's two 4TB hard drives running in a logical volume. I'd love to simply be able to move over all the files to a backup drive, but I don't have anywhere I can store >5TB of files as a backup.
I googled around, but I couldn't find too many guides on migrating logical volumes. The one or two I did find were most definitely written for someone with far more linux knowledge than I have as a relative noob, so any advice would be extremely welcome!
For a server os, do things like consider stability and ease of upgrading between major versions.
Debian does both of those things extremely well.
If you're playing around with changing distros and your data is valuable, I'd try and find somewhere to back it up to, myself.

Recently I am more and more angry with Presidents acting like dictators, billionaires who wreck the planet in front of our eyes and another two books full..
I've been told to "'not worry about things you cannot control" over and over
But I cannot make peace with that, and my reply is:
"No, I keep worrying and fighting until I am in a way of control so I can do something about it"
The feeling of "no control" is what they want so they can get away with everything

WHO REALLY ARE THE OBAMAS & WHY DID MALIA OBAMA REALLY CHANGE HER LAST NAME? We know for a fact that we've been lied to by our government for decades on numerous subjects and situations.
Barack Obama is alleged to be an intelligence asset working for multiple countries and agencies, groomed by the CIA and others to take control of the U.S. and to destroy it from within.
To fool the American people and to play the role properly of the all "American family," you would need a "family" to play the part.
One question that has been floating around the headlines has always been: Is Michelle Obama really a woman, and are Obama's children really their own?
They look awfully like the Nesbitts and traveled with the Obama's and their children everywhere they went. Even "delivered" the babies. But still, to this day, no pictures exist of Michelle Obama's pregnancy with either child.
Another piece of damning evidence was from Joan Rivers who was caught on camera explaining that we already had the first gay president with Obama because she claimed Michelle Obama was a transgender and that everyone in the elite circles knew about it.
Not too long after Joan River's claims, she mysteriously passed away allegedly during surgery. Maybe this also explains the heavy push for certain dangerous ideologies plaguing our society. Have you noticed that all of the celebrities' children are all of a sudden "transgender" now?
Elon's father, along with many other celebrities, has claimed to know that Michelle Obama is really not a woman. Nobody cares what she does. But what we do care about is the truth.
The people have a right to know if we'd been taken for a ride for 8 years while Obama was president. Do you believe the rumors and the evidence to be true? Are the Obama's children really their own? Why would so many celebrities and other prominent people say it was true? minds.com/newsfeed/17856498841…

I use hledger for accounting. It's actually pretty awesome. It's 100% text based. I made a custom syntax file for nvim.
I use typst and hledger for the invoicing. Typst is text based like latex, though easier to program imo. Because both hledger and typst are text based, I made a script and typst template that can do a number of things:
1. Make invoices with time based billing by time keeper (time is kept in sqlite, but converted to ssv for running invoices).
2 . Invoice advance costs paid for clients.
3. Provide trust accounting for clients with trust account.
4. Calculate past dues with interest
5. Sub-sum each table
6. Sum total due (minus amounts to be paid from trust).
7. Print invoices to be mailed.
8. Print envelopes for each client who has an invoice to me mailed.
9. Produces a script for emailed invoices, when ran sends the emails with the invoice attached.
10. Produce hledger journal entries for invoices.
11. Move each invoice into the each clients file.
My invoicing time went from about 10 hours using quickbooks, etc. to about 1 hour. The script and template took about 4 hours to write. That's a net savings over time.

Denying the genocides of the past enables those who carry out the genocides of today
Much of my family left Turkey after my great-grandfather was murdered in the Armenian Genocide. Turkey, Israel, and many other countries still deny this genocide occurred. It’s a denial that enables genocides like that in Gaza to take place today.John Klopotowski (Mondoweiss)

Léon Blum (1872–1950) was a French socialist politician and lawyer who served as Prime Minister of France, most notably leading the Popular Front government from 1936 to 1937. As leader of the French Socialist Party (SFIO), he was a key figure in the left-wing coalition that included socialists, communists, and radicals, winning the 1936 elections. His government introduced significant reforms, including the 40-hour workweek, paid holidays, and collective bargaining rights, known as the Matignon Agreements. Blum, a Jew, faced intense anti-Semitism and political opposition, particularly from the far-right. He briefly served again as Prime Minister in 1938 and 1946. During World War II, he was arrested by the Vichy regime, tried in 1942, and deported to Buchenwald, but survived. Blum was a prominent intellectual, advocating democratic socialism and humanism.
Women gained the right to vote in France in 1944, with the ordinance of April 21, 1944, issued by the provisional government under Charles de Gaulle, granting women suffrage. They first voted in the 1945 municipal elections.
This is the result.

Whats an album you would likely have an emotional reaction upon relistening to present day?
Bach on organ in general, specifically BWV 565 reliably makes me cry. Also Max Reger's Introduction And Passacaglia In D Minor.
And then on the other end of the spectrum, I once got some really bad news while listening to Pantera, and now I'm afraid to listen to them out of superstition. But that's not really applicable here I suppose.

This new analysis reveals that the wealth of just 3,000 billionaires is enough to eliminate global poverty 22 times over.
Meanwhile, the cost of living, rent, and basic necessities keep skyrocketing —
but has your wage increased to match it?
🔹 Why does poverty still exist in such a wealthy world?
🔹 How is it fair that billionaire wealth keeps multiplying while most people struggle to afford the basics?
🔹 Is this greed, systemic design, or something else?

I've been feeling pretty aimless and depressed lately. I've been mostly just playing video games. I think finishing God's Disdain, something I worked on for nearly a decade, just destroyed me a little bit. Now I have to start something new and that's been really hard. I'm still burned out with game dev but I do still want to make another game. Plenty more, actually. I was thinking of maybe starting a video game review channel since I'm playing a lot of games, or writing a book because I am a petty good writer, or creating some new music for another album. All of these ideas floating around my head but I'm finding it hard to just pick something and dedicate myself to it.
Part of me is also wondering if it's okay to just chill out for a bit, like I released this thing (and it didn't do well at all but that's beside the point) so now I should take a rest and let myself take some time off. There's that tugging at the back of my skull to keep working on stuff though and I can't get rid of it.
Recommendations for an Offline Music Player That Supports Synced Lyrics
Hi folks,
Recently, I started to listen to music locally instead of using streaming services because I have had enough of all the annoying parts of it. I gathered a lot of Opus and FLAC files that have lyrics embedded in them. I am searching for some music players that can display them. The one I am using right now is Elisa. It is awesome, but I would still like to know if there are more alternatives, just in case. Thanks!

I always thought I hated rice. Turns out my dad's first wife was a lousy cook.
In a similar vein, I thought my stepmom was a great cook. Then her daughter moved out, and the quality of the meals dropped dramatically. Except on days when step-sister was there and helping cook.
Have you tried helping in the kitchen while she's making it and gaining the recipe by stealth? Is your dad bribe-able?
She is very cute though
