Maybe someone can explain to me the very American (US citizens) tendency to create videos where they rant, rage, and cry on social media.

Me joining the legions of puzzled Chinese folks watching this phenomenon on XiaoHongShu as they pour their trauma on the Chinese socials. 🍿

Ps: yes, I hear it's quite a thing on TikTok. And yes I know some Europeans do it etc. This may surprise you but I have never nor do I ever will, browse TikTok. Not that I can avoid these selfie videos as they are on YouTube too. I just find it odd as I don't think Malaysians do this much and the Chinese? Almost never 😅

so Ive been on XiaoHongShu for about 4-5 months now (not a tikitok user, just read about the chinese network and wanted to try it), and Ive seen a lot of americans on there doing various.... things.

Are chinese folks (or anyone, really) confused about why some americans are freaking out? Have you, by chance, read about the actual rising fascism here? The plans to start non defensive wars against china, russia, etc, etc? This is one of the reasons why people are hysterical.

Yesterday was take the wife to the city day so didn't get much work done.

But after dinner I got a start.
Engine is no longer attached to the bracket.

Now if I could only detach the Baystar hydraulic steering, yeah that would be awesome.

I was gonna start building the plywood mold for the hull extension today.
I built this boat in 2018 so I had suppressed how much work it was just to attach trim tabs , bracket, steering and engine and now it all has to come of.

Yes the Florida situation is fucking horrifying but the exact thing I'm struggling with today is how they rolled this out - like it was a funny viral marketing campaign. And not in an inside joke sort of way. They did it in a way that made it seem like everyone is in on it. And you know something? They were kind of right.

MAGA fascists were immediately hashtagging Alligator Alcatraz, and selling hats and tshirts, pulling in Mexican food trucks to eat tacos and elotes in front of the death camp for Latinos, and sharing memes about it with each other.

Like ha ha ha isn't this funny everybody.

These sinister motherfucking sociopaths were all like "ha ha isn't this death camp funny". All together. All of them. Everywhere.

We never deserved America if this is what we are as a people. Burn the whole fucking thing down.

The architects who design these buildings are not thinking in terms of maintenance. One of our roof gardens you had to get everything in the wheelbarrow and take it up in the elevator, and anything you trimmed you had to either throw over the railing down to the trailer without hitting anyone, or you had to take it down in the elevator. Another one had steps, but the treads were all a meter and a half broad, so taking a wheelbarrow up that was impossible. We had to carry it down in tubs. Parking is also always a nightmare at these places, for some reason.

I'm doing other work now, but being a gardener taught me a lot about the more practical aspects of things.
