The context is investors buying single family homes to drive the market up, but I still don't understand how the landlording franchises would combat this, properties would still be bought and sold. Not really, there's a constant anti-government propaganda, including from elected officials, mostly Republicans. They are playing on the separation between federal and state powers and the heavily polarized local state politics.
For example, there was recently a massive power shortage due to severely cold temperatures in Texas of all places, a heavily Republican state. This was caused by private power providers not winterizing their infrastructure despite "encouragements" to do so by the Texas power grid board.
You would think this would tilt the public opinion in favor of state-controlled utilities, but elected officials have deflected the criticism towards the federal government who didn't transfer power from other states to Texas, even though Texas cut themselves off the federal grid for "better energy self-determination".
This is a very interesting subject and a rabbit hole that I have explored before. It is undeniable that the gut bacteria affects the brain and rest of the body.
