I got connected with someone at the Simracing space on matrix per the advice from @lemonuri@lemmy.ml and they helped me to get it working. Here is what we did.
Create the file 99-handbrake.rules in /etc/udev/rules.d and add the two following lines to it.
This forces the device to usbhid as a joystick whenever it is plugged in and recognized.
Run the following command to reload the device rules if you don't want to reboot. Otherwise you can omit the command and reboot.
sudo udevadm control --reload
It now shows up and is working.
So the device was registering a button at the end of the pull and showing up as an Xbox controller while not recognizing the axis being moved so it was all or nothing.
I installed protopedal and following advice created a dummy device which remapped the inputs so that it registers the analog input only which worked.

All credit goes to JacKeTUs for his work on helping me out. He is making/made the driver for this. It may go into AUR for Arch users, so if anyone ends up looking for support for this handbrake you can find the source at the below link.
This will install the driver (currently it needs to be loaded after running sudo make) and the udev rule. It eliminates the need for protopedal but does require launch options to be set.
I am pretty sure you need to configure more (fake) buttons for the handbrake, I had the same problem. Otherwise it does not get recognized as a gaming device.
I can look up later how I solved this or you can ask the simracing linux community, which helped me with a couple of similar pronlems before:

On Sunday morning (18.5.2025), the residents of the #Bedouin shepherds community of Mughayyir Al-Dir received a "surprise" that has become all too familiar to Palestinian shepherd communities in Area C, and increasingly even in Area B, in recent years: settlers had established a new outpost nearby. What does a “new outpost” look like? A few shade nets, fences, a herd that were brought to the site, and most importantly a handful of young settlers guarded by armed militia members.
This time, the outpost was set up a few dozen meters from the community's homes. In a report that was published in Haaretz about the outpost’s establishment, one of the settlers in the new outpost was quoted saying: “This is the only place that's left. That’s it, thank God we kicked everyone out, including you along with them.” The settler was referring to the fact that Mughayyir Al-Dir is now the only Bedouin community still living in the area, after a wave of expulsions that began in the summer of 2022 expelled the neighboring communities.

Much of that violence stems from the isolated and violent settlement of Maale Michmash and the chain of ultra violent outposts surrounding it. As in many other cases, the new outpost is being built on a plot of land that was registered as state land during the Jordanian era, land that the State of Israel later looted and handed over to the criminal Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. We can assume that this council is behind the establishment of the new outpost.
And what does the army have to say to the Haaretz reporter in response to settlers setting up an outpost just meters away from an isolated and battered Palestinian community? “The area does not encroach on the area where the Bedouins live”.

My training (or perhaps my bias) led me to study this concept extensively from a statistical perspective. The conclusion of four years of work is quite clear: there is no trace of any new pathogen in the #statistics of illnesses or deaths in recent years. All excess deaths are due to the mistreatment of the most vulnerable, driven by fear of the virus. All the dates, all the numbers, correspond to this explanation. This approach could be called "bottom-up": starting from the final statistics to trace back to their foundations and concluding that nothing called "Covid-19" is scientific or even coherent.
A number of proponents of the "top-down" method also criticize the lack of certainty, and even the lack of science, in the theory of the new asymptomatic killer virus: "SARS-COV-2". Others, on the contrary, believe that its existence is well-proven and its properties known. To support their claims, they often cite scientific articles published in major journals, while specifying that these are not reliable when the results are unpleasant.

Arse. I acquired a pair of adolescent rats a few weeks ago, and when they stuck around (having a grand time in the duck food) I bought some traps, left them out for a bit to become normal and then started leaving them unset but baited with Nutella for a week.
Tonight I thought I’d try setting them. One was tripped but empty of everything but food an hour ago, just checked and that one has been licked clean and the other is tripped but again empty of everything but food.
Wondering if the rats are still too light to properly trip the traps. Don’t want them to learn to evade before they get big enough to properly trip them.
Any thoughts? Can’t use rat-proof chicken feeders for ducks, don’t want to use poison because of Dog/wildlife.

Crystaline silicon is 96% of the installed base, it is more expensive but is generally good for 30 years or more. Silicon is the second most abundant element in the Earth's crust after oxygen. Personally, unless you've a load that corresponds well with max solar like air conditioning in southern California, it doesn't make much sense to me.

so, they didn't provide a way for apps to say "this is private personal data, please don't AI this" But a way to go "this content is copyrighted, photograph it and meet our lawyers"
interesting! apps like password managers, e.g. keepass won‘t show up in screenshots or vnc connections (what ist good) … but microsofts catch as you can catch ai will scrape those, too?
I noticed this change in behavior a few minutes before seeing this post. I went to take a screen shot of another window and my Signal window immediately went black.
I could not be happier to see Signal take this step.

So anything I said below was all a lie, it turns out that the issue was kde and my monitors, which are 240hz. I swapped to gnome and the issue disappeared, and then I installed bazzite kde on a second drive and the issue reappeared. Setting my refresh rate to 120hz stopped the flickering and upon setting it back to 240hz I do notice an appreciable decrease in artifacting. I have no idea what to do with this information, but if anyone is experiencing this try just decreasing your refresh rate for your monitors.

Just installed Nobara again and am trying to figure out why this is happening. I think it's a firefox thing since I haven't seen it happen in any other application; basically anytime I do a lot of scrolling, the firefox window breaks down and I can see my desktop background behind it. It always happens in the bottom right cornerish part of the window. I'm up to date on all updates as far as I'm aware. I did some googling and checking out the nobara discord but I couldn't find anything related. I tried recording my screen via spectacle to show the issue, but it wouldn't capture the issue.
Any help would be appreciated; I am a linux beginner so dumbing down any info you have would be nice. Thanks!
Not sure if I'll be of help, but I can try. It would help to get some more information.
You're using the Breeze cursor theme, so I'll assume you're using KDE Plasma. The cursor looks like it's from Breeze 5, not 6, are you on the old Plasma 5? If you are on Plasma, you can go to settings and go to "System information" (near the bottom) or something like that. (IIRC, It was a long time ago since I last used it)
Are you using an Intel, AMD or Nvidia GPU?
Are you on X11 or Wayland? (They're different ways to handle windows, X11 is very old, but may work better in some cases. Wayland is newer, more secure, has some features that X11 lacks, like HDR & is usually better)
You can check the windowing system (X11/Wayland) by opening the terminal (the application Konsole on Plasma) and typing echo $WAYLAND_DISPLAY and pressing enter. If you only get an empty line, you're on X11, otherwise you're on Wayland.
If you're on Wayland, go to the URL about:support in Firefox. Then search (ctrl+f) for Window Protocol. This should be Wayland, otherwise it's falling back to a X11 compatibility layer called Xwayland.

Ok, I'm not sure why I didn't try this, but I downloaded just the linux ...exe? Program? from the firefox website and it seems like the glitch is nonexistent on that version. My next question would be how different is that from the flatpak? What's the difference? Do I need to do something else for updates?
There are a few common ways to distribute software for Linux, which I'll try to explain while leaving out the more complicated parts: - Appimage: The program & all of its dependencies are put into a special filesystem image file. (think special .iso or .zipfile) Works on any distro & does not require administrator privileges, but has a large file size. This is somewhat close to an .exe file. - Statically compiled binary: The program is compiled in such a way, that the program file contains all dependencies. Unlike an appimage, the program file is not an archive, so it does not contain any files within itself. So, all the libraries (small program parts) are placed in a large program instead of being zipped up. Can usually be run without proper installation, like appimage & .exe files. This is also a bit like an .exe file. - Package: The program & asset files are archived, usually compressed .tar archives, (linux equivalent of .zip/.7z/.rar) which are extracted (unzipped) during installation. Sometimes a small included script is run during install/update/removal. Usually, architecture (x86, ARM, risc-V, etc.) & dependency information is also included. Common package formats include: .deb (Debian based distributions like Ubuntu, Mint, etc.), .rpm (RHEL, OpenSUSE, Fedora & derivatives). These packages are usually somewhat distribution & version specific. For example, you might be able to install a Debian .deb on Ubuntu, but if you have incorrect versions of dependencies, it either cannot be installed (you get a warning/error) or the program won't work correctly or at all. Often, package managers like apt, dnf & pacman get these for you, so you don't need to think of them as files, but you can also install package files like .deb or .rpm. - Flatpak: This one's a bit complicated. Something of a mix of all of the above. Works anywhere, but you need to have the application flatpak installed to run programs installed this way. Flatpak programs are installed for each user, meaning that no administrator privileges are required. They also support sandboxing, meaning that a program only gets access to files & functionalities it needs, like on smartphones, but that is optional and not all programs make use of it. - Snap: Also complicated. For an average user, mostly like flatpak. Only guaranteed to work on Ubuntu, but might work elsewhere.
So, how you installed a program may change how it works a bit. For example, the versions of dependencies you have can change the program's behaviour. Also, some configuration can often be done when compiling a program, like specifying whether to use Qt or GTK for drawing windows, or disabling bluetooth support. Different packagers (people who make appimages, flatpaks and/or paclage files) may choose different options here.
Sometimes flatpak programs may use old versions of dependencies. Also, I'm not sure if this is the case with Firefox, but Chromium's (Google chrome & derivatives, like Brave) sandboxing (security things) conflict with flatpak's own, so some of Chromium's security features are disabled in favor of using flatpak's own ones.
If the flatpak version of Firefox caused issues, I'd recommend trying the native version (package manager) instead of one downloaded from the internet. You can either do this from the graphical app store by selecting something like native, dnf or rpm instead of flatpak, or the native package manager with sudo dnf install firefox for Nobara, I think. Unlike flatpaks, native programs are installed for all users & require you to type your password during installation.
If you use an appimage or manually downloaded .rpm file, you need to take care of updates manually, by downloading a newer version like you did during installation. I would strongly advise against this, unless necessary & you know exactly what you're doing.
I think this answered your question, but feel free to ask if anything was unclear or you have other questions. I'm a programmer & I've used Linux for a while, so I should be able to answer most questions.

TL;DR: The wall of text has context & things that might br good to keep in mind, but I'd recommend removing the flatpak version & the Linux .exe equivalent you're using, then trying sudo dnf install firefox.
Edit 2: Nvidia can sometimes cause problems on Linux, but if a different version of Firefox worked, it is very likely not the case here. Sometimes switching from Wayland to X11 or vice versa might help a bit, at least until the next driver update. Otherwise, I'd recommend Wayland, as it's more secure, actively developed, has fancy features X11 lacks & can be a bit more efficient.
Thanks for the response, definitely helpful! My follow up to that would be I'm still not sure how updating would work if I run the command you posted. Once I run that in the terminal, how do I know when there is an update for firefox? Will firefox just tell me like in windows, and update itself? Do I need to run a specific command in the terminal to prompt updates?
While I have you here too, I've just found one more bug that's been bothering me... In the application launcher, when I try to use the scroll bar the cursor won't select the bar itself, instead just defaulting to resizing the window. Any ideas on that? It's kind of a pain but I could live with it. Googling again didn't really bring up anything conclusive. Here's a clip to see what I'm talking about. Thank you again!
If the grahical app store has asked for a password when updating, like on normal Fedora (what Nobara is based on), all programs installed with sudo dnf install <program(s)> are also updated. A update to native packages can also be ran with sudo dnf upgrade. Flatpaks can be updated from the app store or with flatpak update. (no sudo, as that just raises the privileges for the next command, like dnf)
Sorry, I don't know about the scroll issue. The scroll wheel on a mouse or dragging 2 fingers on a touchpad should still work.
TL;DR: If you are prompted for a password when updating, everything's fine. This should be the case for you, as Nobara is based on Fedora, which supports this. Otherwise, you have to run sudo dnf upgrade or equivalent for your distributions's package manager.
