Mamdani’s alignment with the Democratic Party is a worry.
"Goundbreaking campaigns, like those of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & Bernie Sanders, have fallen short of delivering promises for working-class people once in office."
“The Democratic Party is a party of capitalism itself. The working class loses out more & more & is subjected to more & more misery with every passing decade."

I mean, at this point if any holder of a significant office doesn't play ball with the establishment how long would they last? Even just physically, come to that.

I take your point. However, sweetheart deals over decades with the billionaire class have clearly made things worse for the working class.
Imo, there's no alternative to fighting this fascist, likely psychopathic class.
And there're only several hundred of them. Their entire operation could be shut down by people power - massive strikes, mass disobedience, massive BDS, etc etc etc.

in reply to DrALJONES • • •This is true.
It's really too bad those few people have all the other billions so convinced we need something from them.
Miro Collas
in reply to Violet Madder • • •@violetmadder Indeed. Both Bernie and, in the UK, Corbyn, are examples of what happens when a politician deviates too much from what is acceptable: they simply are not allowed to even compete. Methods varied in the two cases, but the result was the same.

Imo, generalising about "all those billions" isn't useful.
Only by understanding specific dynamics can we design specific solutions.
THE twin main reasons for the maga vote are:
Dem leadership abandoned the working class
Thus abandoned, millions of gullible & desperate people put their only hope into a lying narcissistic psychopath.
The bulk of the blame is on the billionaire-bought Dem leadership, not on ppl just doing what they think will save their families.

Research shows Trump's base is mainly poorer, less educated, white men who're enraged at being abandoned by the "elites".
Arguably, the maga base's gullibility & ignorance is related to Dem leadership's 50 years obeying the ruling-class assault on public education.*
