Truck drivers use their trucks very much like other car owners: for commuting to and from work, presumably alone. The thing that most distinguishes truck owners from those of other vehicles is their sheer love of driving. “The highest indexed use among truck owners is pleasure driving,” says Edwards.
This is weird - if not dumb - a sports car would be much more fun to drive, no?

The story is nonsense out in the west US and other places. In many places people put pickups to good use. They use them to fix your plumbing or upgrade your home or for boats and trailers. And don't forget, when you are raising your family or running your business, a utility vehicle is a wise investment. They last for a decade or two easily. Not everyone lives in an apartment and travels on mass transportation.
Second, But yes, the manufacturers increased the size unnecessarily except for the companies to make more money, pure greed. But don't mock everyone because some are greedy.
So, the mocking tone of this article should be a bit more honest. Yes, some people are jerks. The car makers are greedy. So yes, that's bad.
But don't mock everyone who uses a utility vehicle. Shaming everyone out of prejudice derived from a few is just as stupid. Virtue signaling, Holier than thou.
