Ainsi, pour amadouer la concurrence italienne, la France offre sur les trois années à venir une aide de 30 millions d'euros à l'entreprise Trenitalia sur la ligne Paris-Marseille qui a ouvert en juin 2025. La compagnie italienne avait déjà reçu 50 millions d'euros en 2022 lorsqu'elle s’était lancée sur la ligne Paris-Lyon en 2021.
Trenitalia peut donc financer en partie sa politique marketing agressive grâce à l’argent public des contribuables français… et proposer des billets moins chers que ceux de la SNCF Voyageurs, elle aussi financée par les mêmes contribuables.
