"Year after year, the world allowed itself to become more dependent on America's easily weaponizable tech, making the tech both more dangerous and harder to escape." I've been frustrated to see French universities & INSERM offer themselves up to Microsoft, and Airbus, after Microsoft, to Google. All since COVID. But clearly there are different packages, eg Outlook configs incompatible. And infosec?! 🦗 🦗

@Dr. Heather Etchevers Institutions go with whatever gets the job done cheaply, and the cost of the product directly is just one factor, the cost of supporting it is another. You make something political that is not it is economic, but by doing so you force yourselves to pay more because you're going to choose uneconomical alternatives for political gains. I don't really give a rip about Microsoft, I use Linux myself but I don't think organizations need to make choices based upon their needs and what services them economically not on emotional outrage.
