Interestingly, Robins are an extremely common bird where I am (Pacific Northwest USA) but they are neither shaped exactly like these nor colored like them, the white is noticeably missing with the breast being red and the rest of the bird brown and somewhat larger than these but not as plump in the belly.

Obviously they are different species and not closely related, but the American Robin does get it's name after the red breast of the European Robin.
