for whatever reason this reminds me of the rant that Malcomb has in the book version of Jurassic Park where he talks about how the earth is no in jeopardy. That global warming is no incredibly damaging subject to the planet. That the planet was doing just fine before humans, and it will do just fine after we've killed ourselves too.
