in reply to Zack Polanski • — (Shoreline, WA, USA) •@Zack Polanski And yet, ten times MORE people die EVERY WINTER world wide from cold rather than heat, and preserving yourself against heat requires only water and maybe a fan if no air movement, from cold, energy which is expensive, but yea, let's go on with global warming because who cares about all the people who are dying from cold while one tenth that number die from heat.
Look it's time to inject some reality in this whole global warming bit, it's not global warming, it is climatic disruption, the largest issue directly being the increased Arctic melt, isn't resulting in less glacier as many allege because warmer temps mean more evaporation, more snow, which is replacing glacier faster than it's melting off, but what it does mean is more fresh water which is messing with the North Atlantic conveyor and this affects world wide heat distribution, it also affects ocean oxygenation and consequently seafood production. And it's the latter part that is most concerning.
But the fix isn't to replace reliable fossil fuel with intermittent wind and solar, the fix is to replace reliable fossil with cleaner reliable nuclear in the form of safe fast spectrum molten salt nuclear reactor which have no viable failure method that distributes radioactive materials and safety by physics rather than by human or machine mechanisms.
