I can recommend adding a carpet. It is a common practice to cover walls with fabric or sponge like material to prevent echo, and echo between ground and ceiling is often overlooked.

Adding fabric to ceiling would increase the dust level in the room, so not recommended. Carpet on the other hand will both prevent echo and won't produce as much dust. I recommend removing your shoes to avoid getting it dirty tough. Your feet will thank you as well.
