If you're running Ubuntu 22.10 or later and experience skipping of audio under wine, this issue is something fuxored with pipewire. Removing it and letting pulse do everything returns the system to operational audio. I've got 8 core i7-9900k clocked at 4.9Ghz and 32G of RAM on this box and audio was skipping with only Firefux, a few ssh and mate terminal sessions and wine running Winamp. This was a problem both after upgrading from Ubuntu 22.04 to 22.10 and again from 22.10 to 23.04, and in both cases removing everything pipewire and then rebooting fixed.
