After long presenting heatwaves as fun episodes, with pictures of young people in fountains and swimming pools, European media are now realizing it's not funny anymore.
French TV talked about the worst day instead of the warmest day, and Le Parisien had "Torture" as headline. nos.nl/l/2573263

The message still isn't reaching everybody.

I was chatting to an elderly relative yesterday evening, and I showed him a graph of CO2 concentration over time. He didn't know that CO2 causes global warming, didn't know what a greenhouse gas is, and thought that global warming was generally a good thing because, at his age, he likes the heat. He's not malicious or stupid; he just didn't understand what's at stake. The message had bounced off him.

@C++ Wage Slave @Kees van der Leun And people that follow this tripe don't. They don't for starters understand physics. CO2 and all gasses for that matter, absorb along spectral lines. Those lines for CO2 are already saturated about 12 feet off the ground. That is to say the emissions CO2 absorbs it is already fully opaque to 12 feet off the ground. Additional CO2 will slightly widen those lines but the increase is far short of linear and the extrapolations being made assume a linear response. Venus isn't hot just because of greenhouse gasses, it also gets nearly twice the solar input per square meter than Earth, this forces a higher temperature even without CO2, add to that the atmosphere is 100x thicker. And it wasn't a run-away affect as Carl Sagan often stated, rather Venus has no tectonic activity and no sea life to recycle carbon into the crust, unlike Earth. This Global Warming sham is a wealth transfer and control sham, nothing else. If you want to starve go move to North Korea or Palestine and leave the rest of us alone.

A French member of antiX forum welcomes Europe in to climate hell.

Most people around where I live do nothing. I power my home as far as possible with solar, walk to nearby shops.

Wish Germanys ruling partys would subverntion solar for every building, instead they protect profits and gift citizens with the highest electricity prices in Europe and talk about network damaging solar, want to remotely turn off citizens solar power.
I have no network connection, just battery.

There needs to be more reporting on what is causing deadly extreme heat events:

1. The fossil fuel industry is frying the planet

2. Climate denial is funded by the fossil fuel industry
theguardian.com/environment/20…

3. Public corruption in politics & the judiciary is thwarting climate action

4. The wealthy are indifferent to the death toll & costs of the climate change they cause

You've raised an important point. It's fast and cheap for a news outlet to send a photographer out for a picture of people cooling off by swimming. But the real story of a Climate Crisis caused heat wave is people dying, not swimming. It would be improper if not illegal to show images of seniors who died in their homes of heat stroke.
So, very seriously, what would be the proper image? An ambulance pulling into the emergency area?
