The main problems with it stem from the fact that it's deliberately marketed as a historical fact when in reality it's a pseudohistorical fantasy novel that belongs in the fiction section of the library. Being a work of fiction need not detract from whatever wisdom is present, but misrepresenting it as factual renders all that wisdom moot, as evidenced by the 2,000 year track record of violent bigotry stemming from it's application.

@⚡⛥ Wight Power ⛦⚡ @DrFell (Disgruntled Citizen) There are people who believe it is, they count generations and declare the Earth to only be 6000 years old as a result. I am scientifically literate, I understand radio-isotopic dating and it doesn't jive with the generational count age determination, therefore I can not take it literally.

The various so-called `Gnostic` sects are interesting, but personally if I had to choose a comparable tradition from that era it would likely be Hermeticism. Unlike Christian Gnostics, Hermetic Gnostics don't regard the demiurge, creation, nor the body to be evil/corrupt, but simply a lower manifestation of the divine totality and a necessary stepping stone in the process of theurgy.

@⚡⛥ Wight Power ⛦⚡ @DrFell (Disgruntled Citizen) My own take, the point to sentient life is love, love required freedom of will, freedom of will meant some people were going to choose good, to love, some evil, not to love, and the point of Jesus is redemption for those who will inevitably choose the latter.

I formerly ran this site on a six core machine with 128GB of RAM, it was not enough, 18 cores and 256GB for the time being suffices.

Personally I'm not the slightest bit fixated on historical Paganisms/mysticism. I like to know about them because I find it interesting, but when it comes to practice of religion for it's own sake, I've invented my own. It has features in common with some systems like Hermeticism (eg. harmony of complementary opposites, etc), but isn't tied to nor dependent on any other historical system.

@DrFell
1: What historical document has more veracity than the 4 gospels?
2: Are we applying 1-1 ethnic overlap between ancient Hebrews and modern Khazars?
3: Are we taking from that that we should take the word of a woman and some athiest nerds writing fanfic because a cousin of Jesus got a job out of town later and this proves it because it "might be true"?
4: If/then, of what value is a lie?

@DrFell (Disgruntled Citizen) @porkcow @⚡⛥ Wight Power ⛦⚡ I find quite a lot interesting, the Gospels for sure, but also the flood story, Genesis the creation theory, I think Genesis recognizes in a somewhat indirect way what I believe to be a physical truth. It speaks of Jesus speaking the world into existence, but without atmosphere there is no literal speech so what is meant by this? I think thought. And this fits by general belief that the material world view that consciousness is an epiphenomena is backwards, I believe consciousness -> information -> energy -> matter.

@DrFell (Disgruntled Citizen) @porkcow @⚡⛥ Wight Power ⛦⚡ I don't argue my view as truth, I am only expressing how I see it. That said, I've arrived at my view as a way to rectify seeming incompatibilities between macro physicality and quantum physics along with personal out of body experiences in which I've been able to retrieve remote and future information accurately.

@Their motto is deception. @DrFell (Disgruntled Citizen) @porkcow @⚡⛥ Wight Power ⛦⚡ I have no argument with that view at all. I know the popular view of God is either an old man with white robes and a long beard or a younger hippie white dude, neither of which make sense to me, in fact the idea of sexuality in a God makes little sense to me, why would a being that has existed forever and will exist forever have a need for reproductive hardware? So I don't know what God is, but I consider possibilities like the sum of all consciousness and we as something like rain drops that separate from the ocean of consciousness, go out learn, live out our lives, and then return to the ocean and bring that experience with us. But really I don't have a solid model, I do believe that whatever God is, God is loving because clearly God wants that of us. But I don't find any literally coherent mythology, I find nuggets of useful truths.

@⚡⛥ Wight Power ⛦⚡ @🐘🐘 Humpleupagus 🐘🐘 @DrFell (Disgruntled Citizen) @porkcow @☦️KingOfWhiteAmerica☦️ I don't understand the trinity well enough to have a solid opinion on it, I understand the definition, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit or Ghost, but not what it means.
