Just realized you could convert a 2 stroke snowmobile engine to not require oil in the fuel.

1. Add a turbocharger so it gets forced induction while running
2. Add a small electric supercharger (e.g. leaf blower fan) for starting
3. Add an oil pump and switch to a drilled crankshaft and pressurized oil bearings

Leave the whole (tuned) intake / exhaust system intact, it needs to be re-tuned a little bit for the turbo, but that's just muffler design.

Would be an efficient way to get a lightweight experimental aircraft engine...

I think you're trying to make something a problem that isn't a problem. 4 stroke gasoline engines run fine, there's no cylinder lubrication above the piston. 2 stoke diesels run fine even with transfer ports. Mixed fuel in 2 stroke gasoline engines is needed for the bottom end. I don't think there's any evidence that cylinder lubrication suddenly becomes a problem that only diesel can solve just because there are transfer ports.

@Caleb James DeLisle I'm not trying to make something a problem, I am trying to relate that I believe it will be a problem and I've been specific as to why. That said as I've stated it's your engine, do with it as you like, I'm not trying to take agency from you nor would I. I personally choose not to use two strokes even though they are lighter and convenient, and for that matter gasoline where I can avoid it, but that's my choice, my agency, and I have no intention of interfering with yours just wanted to caution on the possible effects of using an engine in a way contrary to it's design, beyond that, your engine your choice.

@Caleb James DeLisle Ok well you go ahead and run your 2-stroke as a 4-stroke, your engine. Not something I would choose but I wouldn't choose a 2-stroke to begin with. Really I avoid gasoline save for where it's the obvious practicality. My lawn mower is electric, my weed wacker is electric, and since our electricity is hydro here it's an environmentally sound choice.
