@sigmaprout152 I can not say ssh -Y another computer, and then say xgears and have it display on my local machine, with X I can. This is not the app I use it for more often things like virt-manager or network-manager but it is functionality I need. And then combine that with the fact that I have Intel graphics which are supported by the kernel mode-setting server means I get efficiency that probably exceeds Wayland anyway as it avoids a lot of unnecessary kernel/userland transitions.

For my culture I had tested Waypipe. It worked very well but in practice I never needed it like I never needed network transparency’s X11. Or are you talking about other things?

@lebout2canap ⏚ @The Linux Experiment It is a different use case when you are trying to replace windows for gaming verses administering a network. So Ubuntu thinks they are clever eliminating X support from Gnome, a bad move, but I use Mate anyway so won't affect me, and I've built it from scratch before so if they decided to screw it as well, that's an option.

That's annoying about Google drive support. It was useful but did some stupid things too like giving files random names.

I currently use syncthing and an always on Windows box to share select parts of Google Drive to my linux machines, and it works well, but isn't an ideal solution.

The 0 64bit and 64bit on Steams hardware survey are maybe 64bit clients. Linux gaming is growing much more faster (1.8% in 3 months) than Windows 11 gaming (0.2% in 3 months) at this point of time.
NVidia does definitely not just push AI code to Linux, I would bet everything I own that they are using it on their proprietary Windows drivers, too.

Microsoft do this sort of thing, walk it back, then introduce it later in a more insidious manner. I do not use GitHub, because I could see this sort of thing happening. Not exactly this, of course, but this IS Microsoft we are talking about.
