@sigmaprout152 I can not say ssh -Y another computer, and then say xgears and have it display on my local machine, with X I can. This is not the app I use it for more often things like virt-manager or network-manager but it is functionality I need. And then combine that with the fact that I have Intel graphics which are supported by the kernel mode-setting server means I get efficiency that probably exceeds Wayland anyway as it avoids a lot of unnecessary kernel/userland transitions.

@lebout2canap ⏚ @The Linux Experiment It is a different use case when you are trying to replace windows for gaming verses administering a network. So Ubuntu thinks they are clever eliminating X support from Gnome, a bad move, but I use Mate anyway so won't affect me, and I've built it from scratch before so if they decided to screw it as well, that's an option.
