First I hear about EU's intention to force all browsers to accept state-mandated certificate authorities which would enable those same states to subvert TLS encryption at will. This is super dangerous and must not pass. Thanks @mozilla for the heads up!

the number of users who compile browsers themselves is ridiculously low. And then they can make it a crime to run browsers without such certificates and put you in jail. Thats what you get with evil regulators

It is not that they do not understand, it is that they do not CARE. If 1 in 100 million people do something, they are not significant portion of market.
