That radio is probably older than the woman in this image. We had some friends of family when I was a kid that used to have one and I'd play with it when I visited when I was a kid, I'm 64 now, which should give some idea of the approximate age, and there is hardly anyone broadcasting on shortwave anymore save for paid religious stations so not the fun it was in the old days.
