i don't think enough people realize that when you make a phone call to someone else, the other phone literally stops what it is doing and makes a noise and shakes, it's very distracting, please do not make phone calls
@drchaos In fact, I keep my smartphone turned off unless I explicitly need it for a specific purpose. I check for important email, vm, etc. at intervals.
@nanook @ernestoDuracelli @lauren I cannot talk for the op, but I'm not buying a tablet because they are way too big for me.
Unfortunately my 7" tablet has a bad battery and is... ancient (for such a device, and slow, and actually an Intel device). The thing is that size is an issue. Phones are getting too big to put in my pockets, and tablets are too big. Maybe I'll convert an e-reader (or actually get a cheap phablet). Though a tablet would just be a "nice to have" now.

in reply to Lauren Weinstein • • •@lauren @drchaos My smartphone doesn't have a SIM and my real phone has been in silent mode for years.
Some people get used to it, others will just give up at some point.
My wive though expects me to take the phone with me when I leave the house. Took me some time to get used to that!
