Actually not true. Our system of government consists of the House of Representatives, and the Senate. The House has a variable number of representatives based upon population from each state. So you could say this is true of the House, however the Senate has just two Senators from each State, REGARDLESS of population, so you could say there it is more like land votes except large states are under-represented and small ones over. Both House and Senate MUST be in concurrence for a bill to pass. This is what is known as a Democratic Republic, NOT a Democracy, and it is designed such to prevent what is known as the tyranny of the masses. This is what distinguishes a "Democracy" from a "Democratic Republic", a Democracy has no such protection.
