EV manufacturing is much more environmental impactful, lithium and cobalt are mined in third world countries with no environment standards and often using slave/forced labor... EV's construction is mainly with materials that can't be recycled without toxic side effects. not to mention the excess weight of EV's - their wear and tear on tires and roads. Green energy is a joke at best. wind mills killing birds, and now off shore wind mills killing whales. solar panels filled with highly toxic / carcinogenic materials.

@Otto Pureblood The increased weight means that despite regenerative braking they emit more brake dust which is probably the worst pollutant although 50% of the other pollution is emitted during production and an EV has 1/3 the lifespan of an ICE so they are far more polluting.

@Otto Pureblood EV's have their place. I would like to have one but have an old house with 100 amp service and can't really afford the wiring and charging station, and I don't think the real issues of EV's has even been touched upon here, that is of lithium fires, lithium batteries provide their own oxidizer, so they are damned near impossible to put out, thus should not be charged in a garage or near a house or near anything else flammable, but 99% of my driving is 25 miles or less and I love rapid acceleration, gasoline is super expensive here (over $5/gallon) and electricity is relatively cheap (around 14c/Khw) and all renewable, mostly hydro. Personally though I don't think goberment should decide or incentive my choices, period, especially when we're operating under a corrupt dictatorship.
