Digging weeds out of an overgrown planter pot without gloves I provoked a brown paper wasp, he stung me once in each hand, holy crap does that hurt! Wear gardening gloves folks!

@HaleakalaCrater I had one of these bastards fly in through an open window a few summers ago and lie on my bad waiting. Got up to pee, when I laid down again all the sudden there is an intense pain in my back. It should come as no surprise that whenever I see a hive of these bastards it's gonna be waspacide.

@nanook yeah it hurts like hell! My stings are better already though. I have not been stung in years. Yellow jacket 🐝 stings burn terribly too.

@HaleakalaCrater I think mud wasps though produce more venom than a yellow jacket. But I've never been viciously attacked by a yellow jacket. As a kid used to catch them in a bottle, then unscrew the top and roll it down the lawn. Occasionally one would realize who it's tormentor was and fly back to get me.

Wasps will go out of their way to naturally attack anything that is black or red. Factor that into the clothes you wear & the color of your gloves since many of the disposable ones are now black.
