@Cozy Clew I think my Dell is approaching a decade now. It's battery is now good for about 1/2 hour so I've purchased a replacement battery. Also the internal 3600 RPM rotary drive makes molasses movement seem like light speed so I've ordered an SSD to replace. I'm pretty good at killing portable electronics so it's exceptionally robust.

@Cozy Clew Dell has it's up sides, they're robust, they are Linux friendly, and it's downsides, they use non-standard components so replacement parts are limited. But they are solid machines. I've got a laptop that is ten years, a desktop that is more than two decades and even the original hard drive still works in the damned thing. It ain't a speed demon but it just keeps going. I did replace the original nVidia card with an AMD because it was no longer supported in modern Linux kernels but otherwise it's stock.
