Rubber Bullets...

If the people there have any sense they'll start shooting the lead kind back.

@:googlecow: :googlecow: :googlecow: You know when I was in 4th grade, there was this kid about a foot taller than me that always picked on me, sucker punch me, etc. Then one day I went ballistic on him, and he never came near me after that. Bullies don't like pain any more than you do, they just count on intimidation to prevent it happening to them. Once you don't let that work for them they are done.

@:googlecow: :googlecow: :googlecow: At least in the US, Self-defense is a valid excuse. You have the legal right to defend yourself. I've only been assaulted once as an adult, a guy came up to me in the middle of the night while I was on a walk, stuck a knife to my belly and said give him my wallet. I faked a reach for my pocket and rapidly swung my knee into his groin. Left him lying on the ground clutching his balls, and this was right across the street from a police precinct which tells you what cops are worth.

@:googlecow: :googlecow: :googlecow: In the the UK that would be true because common law there has you guilty until proven innocent, in the US, if the courts function properly (which they often don't, kangaroo courts are a real issue here), the burden of proof is on the accuser to prove the accused guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. However that said, if I am attacked I will defend myself. If the attack is life threatening then I will use any deadly force available to me in my defense and deal with the aftermath when it occurs.

@:googlecow: :googlecow: :googlecow: No, I didn't get "lucky", I, un-armed, defended myself against an armed attack which I am legally entitled to do. I can't believe the level of cowardice these days. Look if you offer no resistance they will take your possessions, take your freedom, and then take your life. Better to risk losing these things than to guarantee it which you do by NOT offering any resistance.

Yes, it sucks, but where I'm from if a cop didn't see them attack you first with their own two eyes (and later decides not to lie about who attacked whom first) then you either let the attacker assault you or you engage in the crime of "mutual combat" by defending yourself.

1.) Even everyone can buy a 3D printer (and not everyone in Australia can), ammo is going to be in short supply.

2.) If people start using plastic guns-- which have a limited use before they're innefective as weapons --the Australian government will ramp up and start using lethal and more powerful weapons on their citizenry.

You're naive, even if well intentioned.

Australia is lost. Probably China owns the Australian leadership, who knows. But, as a free democracy, Australia is gone. Forever.

Too bad, because Australia used to be a nice place to live.

@Gorciman No, I'm not naive, I'm in the country that kicked the British out, you're the penal colony they created. I'd say if you're not willing to fight for your freedom then you deserve what you get. Lots of things can be effective projectiles, even nails.
