This isn't to say we shouldn't tax the rich more. FAFO, especially as macroeconomic policy isnt everything: justice also matters.

Economic democracy is a way of fighting this. The precise form it will take will vary from organization to organization, but will probably include democratic oversight of industry regulators and more user say in public services."

"Stronger competition policy. Competition drives productivity; most efficiency gains come not from incumbent companies upping their game but from inefficient firms leaving (pdf) industries and newer ones entering. Government must facilitate this process by suppressing monopolies and encouraging new entrants. This requires more than aggressive competition policy."

@Best Troll EUW Policy is no good without enforcement. We have laws on the books, that, if actually enforced would stop a lot of monopolies, specifically the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, but the last time was enforced was the break-up of AT&T which lead to the shit-show of telephone service was have to day, five times the price, 10% of the reliability, and zero security. And by the same token, the DemonRats, specifically Bill Clinton, passed the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which changed broadcasting rules by removing the limit of any one owner not owning more than a total of 12 stations, not more than three of them in any one location, and of those three not more than one AM, one FM, and one TV station, ensuring that there would be competition. This took us from a situation where there were 500 diverse broadcast owners and by contrast opinions represented, to six and they're virtually clones.
