alright
i have done the whole shebang unplugging all the shit and hard power cycling everything. i can get it to post just fine, but i NEED access to the bios and the keyboard is never detected by it preboot, even when i reboot to firmware after a post.
suggestions?

Have you tried using different usb ports if your using a usb keyboard?

Try a different keyboard, or different release of the BIOS, also some versions of linux by default include a go into firmware settings option in the boot menu that goes into the bios settings so there is another potential means of getting there.
