it's small, but it's there. corn, squash, peas, beans, sweet potatoes, carrots. blueberries are in their 3rd year, apples in their 2nd year. But the priority this year is to finish the cabin. Next year, the garden will be huge.
@Salvatore Antithesis{COLORADO} I've heard for a while of these communities where they buy a thousand acres and get like minded folks to move there and grow beef, wheat, make crafts, whatever - but I think all those little communities need to connect - they need a way to distribute their stuff to the other little communities. There's on in Texas I heard of recently: homesteadheritage.com/ . But I think they are thinking "too small" - they are mostly concerned about their little piece of heaven - I think they ought to connect with little communities all over the country - all over the world - we need our own supply lines, distributors, manufacturers, even our own internet and currency. not saying you have to live in a commune, but imagine if all "the makers" were able to connect with each other....
Anyway, I'm the guy building a log home literally from scratch without a bank loan, stacked the logs with ropes and pulleys, wife and I designed the place. had no building experience when I started (former math teacher / telecom tech). been working on it in my spare time (every night after my regular job) for 6 years, hoping to finish and move in this year. got a few acres, going to have a huge garden eventually. Also going to build a shop and do woodworking - hoping it will turn into "real income".

I think this db/vaccine passport garbage is just the winding up - it's the test to see what they can do. there'll probably be another "virus" later on, and those who refuse the "vaccine" will be "officially" shut out - cut off, won't be able to access your bank account / get a job / see a doctor , renew your driver's license / vote / etc. cut out of society. I think the time to get out of the system is now - get out of debt, build your own economy, grow your own food, be your own doctor, as much as possible. get a good network of friends. I think it's coming.

but the podmins are not doing the fediverse any favors - look at that "false advertising" - "...where you are in control" (but only if you are a podmin).
how are they going to attract people to the fediverse if they keep booting people? no better than facebook at this point. And if the fediverse doesn't grow, the developers are out of a job, which means no updates, which means no support. shooting themselves in the foot. bastyon has so far been a good alternative - it runs on a block chain, and is decentralized. They pay you to post there, and podmins get a cut for hosting. I think it's a good set up.
unsure if it is hacking or censorship. I contacted the podmin, but have not received a response. My account is completely gone - search for "#LHBA" (one of my common tags) and you won't find anything recent (within the last year). anyway, it is what it is. lesson learned: don't rely on the fediverse, unless you run your own pod. been treated worse on diaspora than on facebook. but on facebook, I was "self-censoring", so....
