I'm convinced we've past the point of Idiocracy. For those too young to remember the film it came out in 2006 and showed a future where buildings were toppling over, only stupid had reproduced for 500 years and everyone was basically retarded. Water had been replaced by a sports drink called Brawndo for nearly all purposes, including crop irrigation, leading to agricultural collapse.
DW brought on "AI experts" and they were trying to convey that the AI companies were to blame for the Australian governments poor security practices, but utterly failed to even understand that the security issues were the fault of the government rather than the AI company. It's like it doesn't even occur to anyone that even if you eliminate the AI that the faulty software or configuration is why the AI was able to 'hack' into the system and expose all of Australians medical data.
The danger isn't in AI. It's in the poor coding practices and lack of concern for security on the servers. Too much data is collected. Laws can't fix this. Fixing the holes can. Outlaw AI and the "enemy" still gets in (DW was fearmongering about Russia and China).
The actual danger from AI is stupid people blinding believing what the computer tells them. It's the excess surveillance that ends up leading to more false positives than not. It's training cops they're at risk and to shoot first ask questions later. When you blindly trust "AI" and assume everyone is a threat your the real threat. Even if the license plate is actually tied to a person who is suspected of murder it doesn't mean the person(s) your pulling over and pointing a gun at are.
Pointing a gun at someone whose entered your house when the door was locked is very different than pointing a gun at someone you pulled over.

Cela dit, à mesure que l'IA et la robotique se généraliseront, ce coût — et donc les besoins en capital — diminuera, car les dépenses liées à la main-d'œuvre de production baisseront. Cela implique certes que les gens devront se reconvertir vers des emplois nouveaux, moins répétitifs et plus intéressants, mais ce n'est pas une mauvaise chose.

Palestinian girl Maha Bashir has died from severe malnutrition on Tuesday, Palestinian media report, as Israel continues to deliberately restrict food and other necessities entering Gaza. The United States and President Trump, who leads the Board of Peace, has enabled the deprivation with weapons, funding, and diplomatic protection as Israel manufactures a starvation crisis by blocking sufficient food trucks from entering Gaza.
Journalist Osama al-Kahlout documented a loved one cradling Maha’s almost weightless body. Starvation had consumed nearly all the flesh from her frame. Her ribs, spine and pelvis pushed sharply through her skin, while her arms and legs had wasted to little more than bone.
Since the ceasefire began, Israel has allowed in only 35.3% of the minimum agreed aid deliveries, averaging 211.8 trucks daily against the required 600, a document shared by Palestinian authorities with mediators on Sunday shows. Palestinian negotiators said Israel also supplies mediators with misleading figures while refusing independent international monitoring of humanitarian aid.
Famine was confirmed in Gaza City in August 2025, and while the hunger crisis has eased from last year, it remains severe. The IPC warns that 74,200 children could require treatment for acute malnutrition through April 2027, including more than 11,400 severe cases. Without sustained aid, nearly 1.9 million Palestinians could face acute food insecurity by December.
Gaza’s Health Ministry had already recorded at least 420 hunger-related deaths, including 145 children, since October 2023.
I finally got around to going through the photos of the solar eclipse, and I’m happy with them. In hindsight, I always think I could have gotten even more out of them. A different location, better foregrounds? In any case, it was very challenging to photograph the solar eclipse “differently” than how it’s usually seen. I wanted to integrate it into the landscape and not just capture it as a close-up. What do you think of the results? Since I don’t like to post a lot of photos at once, I’ll be sharing the rest of the photos bit by bit over the next few days 🙂
