Kernel Upgrade Saturday March 18th 11PM

We will be upgrading our server kernels on Saturday the 18th starting at 11pm Pacific Daylight Time. Expected downtime is about ten minutes per service with the exception of Yacy which can take half an hour or longer to rebuild database after a reboot.

This will affect all of our services, free and non-free, virtual private servers, shell services, e-mail, and web hosting. The free services are the fediverse services, friendica.eskimo.com/, hubzilla.eskimo.com/, nextcloud.eskimo.com/, and yacy.eskimo.com/.

Really Good News
This is really good news for the world, not so good for the WEF, and I'm very happy to see this development. Kernel Upgrades Tonight 11pm-11:30PM

Upgrading Eskimo North server kernels to 6.1.16 this evening starting at 11PM. Should be finished by 11:30PM providing no physical server hangs.

This involves all of the servers so shell servers, mail servers, web server, virtual private servers, will all each be down about 3-10 minutes depending upon the machine complexity.

The free fediverse services, friendica.eskimo.com/, hubzilla.eskimo.com/, nextcloud.eskimo.com/, and yacy.eskio.com/ will also be down during this maintenance. Most will return in 3-10 minutes, the exception being yacy which rebuilds it’s database after reboot, a process that can take as much as 40 minutes.

I feel the reason for the falling birth rate is in a word, Greed, particularly the greed of mega-corporate executives, the Rockefuckers of the world. It used to be, in the 50's and early 60's that a single family income was sufficient to raise a family, but after that corporate greed got to a point that, even though technological advancements and automation and improvements in farm output meant that we should be able to be even wealthier instead corporate greed sucked up all that wealth for a handful of billionaires to fly private jets and run giant yahts around the world, while the rest of us starved. This made two income families a necessity and having an income and children at the same time, not so doable for women, so here we are.

Cocaine Bear
Went and saw cocaine bear. If you want to go see something totally hokey and humorous with some really tacky jokes, like the 300lb female park ranger with the dusty beaver, yea, it's ok. I am amazed at the detail that went into their animated bear. Not an intellectual movie by any stretch, no socially redeeming value, but funny. 3/4 of the actors get eaten or mauled to death by the end of the film.

Planning on upgrading all the systems to Linux 6.1.14 Friday 3/3/2023 starting at 11PM. If all goes well, should be completed by 11:30PM, if not it maybe another 1-1/2 hours (if a physical host does not reboot properly).

This will effect all services including shell accounts, web hosting packages, e-mail, etc. It also will affect our free fediverse services, friendica.eskimo.com/, hubzilla.eskimo.com/, nextcloud.eskimo.com/, and yacy.eskimo.com/.

All services are not expected to be down more than about ten minutes individually except yacy which takes about 30-40 minutes to rebuild it’s database after a reboot.

Safety vs Control
Scarecrow Video in Libtardia, er, Seattle, is the largest video repository in the world. Unfortunately they are now run by libtarded asswipes. I went there to rent a video only to see that I was required to wear a mask. I left without renting and instead gave Amazon $5 for the same video I would have rented from them for $4. I wrote scarecrow a short letter, specifically their sales department. I told them when Covid-19 first came out perhaps it was a real threat to some but not nearly of the magnitude as portrayed in mainstream media. However, Omicron has a fatality rate that is 1/5th that of the average seasonal flu. Further the Covid-19 virus is 1-2 microns in diameter, the holes in commercial masks are between 50-200 microns, so trying to stop Covid-19 with a mask is about as effective as stopping mosquitos with a barbed wire fence. I further stated exactly what this meme states, it's not about Safety, it is about Control, and I'll be damned if I'm going to allow them to control me. A local Bistro would only service people who had been vaccinated, consequently I and apparently enough people did not do business with them. They went out of business and were replaced with another that did not have this policy. Warms my heart to see this happen.

While vinyl chloride burned in a high temperature incinerator might only generate water, CO2, and hydrochloric acid as byproducts, when it's burned in open like this it generates an unhealthy amount of dioxins which are strongly carcinogenic. These will enter water ways including the Ohio River, the Ohio River feeds into the Mississippi, so basically a huge portion of America's drinking water and farmland is fucked, we're all going to end up eating this shit.
