The Fauci Hagiography issue was bad enough, but the current 02.204 issue's article with Dr Paul Offit's lies on behalf of the Vaccine Industry are the final straw in our willingness to subject ourselves to your product's narrative maintenance at the expense of Truth.

Many doctors, researchers, and actuarial studies are now proving the COVID MRNA vaxes are killing more people than they (may have) saved, many of whom are young healthy athletes dying of heart failures.

History will judge Offit and Fauci as Pharma-bought criminals (see RFK Jr.'s books for the facts on COVID MRNA lack of testing and FDA complicity and coverups of the damages being done).

Yet Offit states "no one is safe until everyone is safe", and wants government power to force genetic-changing experimental products on us all. Your readers deserve better - Goodbye! "

Linux Kernel 6.7 Build Issues

I have successfully compiled 6.7 kernel on my workstation for Ubuntu using make bindeb-pkg, but compiling it for Redhat machines using binrpm-pkg fails. Also, trying to compile it on one of my servers is failing. Previous kernels have compiled without error in both environments. The 6.7 kernel is performing very well on my workstation, hence I'd really like to get it running on the other machines including the server running friendica, but it is being obstinate.

This is the error I am getting with make bindeb-pkg on the server, 6.2 compiled fine on this same machine:

make[5]: *** [Makefile:1911: .] Error 2
make[4]: *** [Makefile:350: __build_one_by_one] Error 2
make[3]: *** [debian/rules:25: build-arch] Error 2

make[1]: *** [/space/src/6.7/linux-6.7/Makefile:1535: bindeb-pkg] Error 2

And the make rpmbin-pkg:

Lucid Dreams

Lucid dreams are a type of dream where you become aware of the fact that you are dreaming within the dream, then, often, you can direct the dream as you like, go flying, time travel, travel to a distant planet, whatever.

I had a lot of these in my twenties but they declined significantly after that and now in my 60's they are relatively rate even though I still dream quite vividly and generally do remember my dreams at least initially upon wakening.

A key to intentionally having a lucid dream is finding some test to determine if you are awake or dreaming and then doing it frequently while awake. This becomes habit and then you start doing it in your dreams as well.

A test that seems to work for many is looking at their hands though nobody has ever explained to me how this works and what is different in a dream state, however I have not found this to work for me.

I accidentally discovered last night that in a dream state I can not perform simple multiplication in my head. In a dream to solve some problem I had to
multiple 3x17 in my head, I could not do it, but upon waking it was trivial.

I'm not sure how this will work in the long run, if I always use the same numbers
then it will just become a memory item.

Trumps Dentures

Saw a speech from Trump last night in which his dentures were falling out mid-speech. He was desperately trying to re-seat them without using his hands and unfortunately failing.

Shit like that happens, BUT, I would expect someone with Trump's money to have dental implants rather than dentures.

Mastodon Help

As I've mentioned, I have a friendica, hubzilla, mastodon, nextcloud, and yacy server. Mastodon was the most recent addition and I added it in September of last year. I installed as 4.1.17 and initially it federated, but I attempted an upgrade to 4.1.19, not sure what I did wrong but it still thinks it's 4.1.17 and it stopped federating. Anyone that can help debug, your assistance would be appreciated.

Talk Web

I don't know how many here are old enough that in the past they used to listen to talk radio. I am 65, and did so and I miss the old days of the Art Bell show and some others.

However radio doesn't have enough audience these days to sustain such a show economically, much of the audience has gone to the web.

I got to thinking how could we bring this sort of thing to the web, we have blogs, but they are one-way except live blogging allows for real time comments, but it is nothing like talk radio used to be where you could have a host in one location, a guest in another, and callers calling in from all over the world and people listing from all over.

I can envision a web application that could so something better but I don't have the coding skills to pull it off, so thought I would describe my idea and see if anybody else there feels it might be worth pursuing.

My idea is to have something like Zoom, except on the viewers in it has the ability to have infinite number of people watching, something that on the output side can work with a cdn so that it can be widely distributed.

Then there would be one or two main windows (host or host+guest), and a number of small windows on the side (callers queued) and when they come on they'd get a slightly larger screen to distinguish them being live from those in queue, and the host would have the ability to make them full screen if they had something to show or visually share and the host would also be able to full-screen the guest in that event.

Ideally, this would be entirely browser based and not require an "app".

The battle between capitalism and communism is one that can't be won because pure forms of either do not work. And this is going to become more true as AI, robotics, and automation in general become a larger part of our lives.

The problem can be reduced to this. Those that own the means of production keep the wealth to themselves. But if we distribute the means of production equally productivity dies and we all starve. The Bolsheviks are a case in point. A relative minority of farmers owned all the land, produced all the food, and they were wealthier than others because everybody has to eat so they will trade whatever they have to get enough to eat.

Enter the Bolshevik revolution, land is taken away from the farmers and given to all the populace on a more or less equal basis. Most of whom either don't know how to farm, don't want to farm, or are just plain lazy, no food is produced, 60 MILLION people die of starvation.

In the west we find ways to compromise but in some areas we have compromised too much, labor unions are a case in point. They help by forcing the owners of the means of production to share some of that production with their workers. It is an imperfect system as it exists because it doesn't incentivize production, it just incentivizes showing up and collecting a paycheck, and in practice many employees these days have problems even with the showing up part. It generally forbids or makes difficult for a corporation to reward a more productive worker for their productivity verses the employee that just shows up and collects a pay check but does little to contribute to the generation of wealth that is distributed to them.

The west does have a market system that allows people to buy-in to the means of production, called Stock Markets. But this usually requires a more long term view than most people have.

The other solution is welfare which provides people who do not contribute to the production of wealth in any manner what-so-ever access to a portion of that wealth. This has gotten so out of hand that we've got a large unemployed work force out there that will not hold a job even though millions are available. Why work when you can sit at home and get high?

Part of the reason that people sit on welfare and don't take jobs is because the type of jobs that are becoming available requires knowledge they don't have. If a robot takes over flipping burgers at your local burger palace, SOMEONE still has to fix that robot when it breaks, and it will, someone still has to provide the energy it requires, someone has to build it, program it, etc. So it took a few peoples jobs but many jobs are created to maintain it, but not enough people are trained in those technologies.

So laziness is part of the issue, but the lack of availability of training is another part. My view, we should not support laziness. If someone wants to collect welfare and they are able bodied but lack training then they should have to be in training to receive it and we should find some means of providing that training.

Fighting over which economic system should rule by throwing Molotov cocktails at each other in the streets and destroying existing goods, services, and the means of producing them is NOT the way we should be going about this.

I think we should find some ways to make it easier for someone interested in entering the market to do so, reduce regulations that make it too complex, people who own a stake in the means of production, even if other people are doing the production, are more likely to contribute to it in positive ways than people who do not.

@Nanook

This has gotten so out of hand that we've got a large unemployed work force out there that will not hold a job even though millions are available. Why work when you can sit at home and get high?

This is truly the biggest problem right now - it justifies endless illegal immigration because "the locals won't do it!" when, in reality, some amount of pressure must be exerted on the chronically unemployed to get the desired results.

Likewise, illegal immigration dilutes wages way too much. You could even say that illegal immigration is a stressor on the free market.
