The German police just conducted 6am raids on 170 people accused of Internet "hate speech".

Many were arrested for "insulting politicians", such as calling Merz a "moron". I kid you not ... that shows that he is indeed a monumental moron and a pathetic loser! He has already shown that he is a hypocrite and an abysmal liar.

The ones only justifiable arrests would be those who directly call for violence. In Germany, praising the gay Marxist Adolf is still illegal. I have no idea why anyone would do that. He destroyed the country and mass-murdered 8 to 12 million people, including hundreds of thousands for expressing their opinions. Et là, il me semble que les gouvernements néo-libéraux s'y attellent. Le néo-libéralisme, c'est faire baisser le PIB. C'est ça qu'il faut changer, le PIB, il faut cesser de se référer à ce truc qui diminue la civilisation. Seulement, ceux qui détiennent la (les) dette(s) ont instauré ce truc pour se faire des thunes. Plutôt que la guillotine, il faudrait se contenter de dire massivement qu'on ne paye plus la dette, qu'il n'y a plus de dette. Ça, ça les ferait vachement chier.

For non New York followers, this was our celebrity dynasty mayoral candidate in New York, our former governor, savior and educator during COVID / #TrumpVirus and down in flames during the #MeToo height after many accusations. He came ba-ack. Maybe now gone.

New York has finally gotten ranked-preference voting, where anyone (like Cuomo) needs 51% to win instantly, and choice 2, 3, etc. may go to a runoff. Cuomo conceded - something.

Meanwhile, the two most popular candidates among the people - the NYC comptroller who fought for immigrants, and an American Muslim - teamed up to send a message: "I hope you'll vote for me #1, but if you really like him, vote me for #2." Seems there was a large contingent of "anyone but Cuomo" voters. I could be wrong now... (Monk: "But I don't think so")

And the #1 winner, of the two pro-sanity candidates is: (drumroll) ...Zohran Mamdani


And on to round 2. (The #context - This is the first ranked election for mayor in NYC - It is the primary, to choose the democratic candidate, who almost always will be the next mayor of New York. Both the two allied front-runners ("not Cuomo") have many fans.

To hold them somehow forever hungry but not starving. To hold them under #US and EU bombs but not extremely malnourished. To cut the babies in pieces but not dying because of starvation....
And for this, they are not able to agree to review the pact.

A key part of the New York City mayoral races was Ranked Choice Voting.

I'm not seeing many news articles mention this yet (correct me if I'm wrong though!).

Ranked choice let's us vote first for who we actually want.... and then put in backup votes for "good enough" candidates and allows us to compromise and find common ground.

It destroys the concepts of "lesser of two evils" and "throwing away your vote".

I hope we see Ranked Choice voting everywhere.

A USB cable with built in operating system and wifi for exploiting computers

A tiny circuit board containing an ESP32-S3 hides inside a USB-C plug on each cable, and can carry out a keystroke injection attack. The cable’s firmware is open-source, and has an impressive set of features: a payload syntax checker, payload autocompletion, OS detection, and the ability to impersonate the USB device of your choice.

The cable provides a control interface over WiFi, and it’s possible to edit and deploy live payloads without physical access to the cable (this is where the syntax checker should be particularly useful). The firmware also provides a remote shell for computers without a network connection; the cable opens a shell on the target computer which routes commands and responses through the cable’s WiFi connection (demonstrated in the video below).

The main advantage of the Evil Crow Cable Wind is its price: only about $25, at which point you can afford to lose a few during deployment. We’ve previously seen a malicious cable once before. Of course, these attacks aren’t limited to cables and USB drives; we’ve seen them in USB-C docks, in a gaming mouse, and the fear of them in fans.

A USB cable with built in operating system and wifi for exploiting computers
A tiny circuit board containing an ESP32-S3 hides inside a USB-C plug on each cable, and can carry out a keystroke injection attack. The cable’s firmware is open-source, and has an impressive set of features: a payload syntax checker, payload autocompletion, OS detection, and the ability to impersonate the USB device of your choice.

The cable provides a control interface over WiFi, and it’s possible to edit and deploy live payloads without physical access to the cable (this is where the syntax checker should be particularly useful). The firmware also provides a remote shell for computers without a network connection; the cable opens a shell on the target computer which routes commands and responses through the cable’s WiFi connection (demonstrated in the video below).

The main advantage of the Evil Crow Cable Wind is its price: only about $25, at which point you can afford to lose a few during deployment. We’ve previously seen a malicious cable once before. Of course, these attacks aren’t limited to cables and USB drives; we’ve seen them in USB-C docks, in a gaming mouse, and the fear of them in fans.

Look, I know AI is controversial, but just for a moment, let's set aside our preconceived notions, our biases, the environmental impact, the massive cost to train and run models, the labor exploitation, the intellectual property theft, the inaccuracies, the mania it causes in users, the destruction of search, the deskilling of professionals, the devaluation of creative work, job losses, and lack of economic value from enterprise implementations.

I'm with Frances Ryan - the cut to disability payment is the final confirmation that Labour is not the party it once was.....

In political terms its a massive unforced error... in moral terms, its a disgrace.

Forget the MPs who rebel over cutting disabled people’s benefits – remember those who don’t. This is Labour’s poll tax. Its tuition fees. Its Partygate. Just as the Iraq war was for Tony Blair, disability cuts is the moral stain that will mark Starmer’s government and the party for years to come. Severely disabled and ill people are going to be starved, isolated and degraded as a result of this policy. No Labour MP who backs it should be forgiven.
