I was gonna start building the plywood mold for the hull extension today. I built this boat in 2018 so I had suppressed how much work it was just to attach trim tabs , bracket, steering and engine and now it all has to come of.
Not showing in this picture. I have a lumber beam on top of that "scaffold" and used a ratchet strap attached to the hoisting ring under the motor cover to lift it just enough to loosen the bolts.
But I got stuck on the Baystar. Big bolts wouldn't budge. Will just detach the hydraulic hose.

Technically I didn't build the boat, but it was a boat build. I bought the boat in 2007, second hand from an old man who had the same name as me. The boat was then 33 years old and no where near mint condition.
So I just used it over midsummer weekend and then I took it and went to work on it.
I replaced the stern, made a new cabin, replaced the bow bench, sanded and repainted the whole boat. Attached stainless steel bracket, new engine and trim tabs.

I'll be honest, I hate these thing. It's an architectural concept that doesn't actually work in real life or else it requires someone with both gardening qualifications and abseiling qualifications to maintain it, which is to say it costs too much to keep it up. It looks great, but the logistics of maintenance render it stupid again.

I've worked in buildings with plants - those roots and limbs can really tear things apart.
I prefer the notion of sustainable, livable cities and towns rather than focusing on individual buildings.
My own personal notion is that we ought to build like European towns of the pre-industrial era, town squares for people to gather, surrounded by low rise buildings (five or six floors max, with setbacks to avoid being oppressive.) With retail on the ground levels, light commercial on 2nd level, and residential on the higher levels. No cars except for delivery, emergency, and disabled access (parking areas under the square and buildings.). This would continue back away from the square for small number of "rings". These square-based townlets can be replicated and abutted together to form larger urban forms. The key is to push the automobile onto a few roads rather than having roads and cars as the dominant form. Public transit would also be a key.
No one expects each unit to do their own plumbing, but people see some plants and think that everyone has to be a gardener? Of course the building will hire someone to maintain this. They'll use the same infrastructure they use to wash the windows. Singapore has been doing it successfully for years.
Professionally, by education, I was a gardener. I did roof gardens, but those buildings' plants have to be maintained by specialists who can work at height, and I'm guessing it involves cordoning off the area below where they're working. People with the qualifications to do that work are not easy to find and they're expensive. Trees do not belong on high-rise apartment buildings.
As someone who has to maintain buildings, any growth anywhere on the building is a headache. Some microbes find a way to break down what should be sealants that are supposed to last 20 years...and I have a surprise roof leak that requires a lot of cleaning and resealing. I suspect the microbes can make proteins that leverage the UV light from the sun to help break the strong bonds quicker. Something like a roof replacement for a building is not cheap, about a million dollars and a lot of labor over many months...
We had residents letting their dogs shit in the roof gardens, or throwing their trash into the planted areas. Sometimes stuff just died for no reason or it would grow too thick and cut off light to one side of the roof garden. It really is just a headache. At ground-level, it's doable. On a building, not so much.
I left one apartment, because residents were violating the no-dogs rules...and their dogs would urinate in the elevators every morning. Untrained dogs in buildings aaaaaaaaaaaghgggghhgh
The architects who design these buildings are not thinking in terms of maintenance. One of our roof gardens you had to get everything in the wheelbarrow and take it up in the elevator, and anything you trimmed you had to either throw over the railing down to the trailer without hitting anyone, or you had to take it down in the elevator. Another one had steps, but the treads were all a meter and a half broad, so taking a wheelbarrow up that was impossible. We had to carry it down in tubs. Parking is also always a nightmare at these places, for some reason.
I'm doing other work now, but being a gardener taught me a lot about the more practical aspects of things.
