A man was learning the English language and he picked up the newspaper, which the headline read, "Thoroughbred Pronounced Winner". He said, "I give up!".
Web Server Maintenance
I am going to be taking the web server that hosts friendica.eskimo.com/ and hubzilla.eskimo.com/ down for about 45 minutes starting in 17 minutes to image the machine with the new flash drive configuration.
FusionIO Flash
This is what webserver looks like now that database is on FusionIO flash.

MiB Swap: 131072.0 total, 131057.6 free, 14.4 used. 40141.0 avail Mem
Maintenance Completed
We have installed ioFusion flash drive and device driver and utility software, configured the drive and moved the database to it. Where we used to max at about 400 TPS, I've seen it spike as high as 2923 and not get bogged down at all. So hopefully communications with other nodes will be more reliable.
Maintenance
We will be taking hubzilla.eskimo.com and friendica.eskimo.com down for some maintenance in about an hour and fifteen minutes. This is to install a special flash memory card which supports atomic writes to speed up MariaDB which is maxing out during heavy traffic periods.
I came across them when I was reading a lot about the situation with wild horse roundups. I have donated through them, they seem to be legitimately helping.

Because the digital Gods' of Google/Youtube seek to ban this, I'm making it visible here.
you have option to convert your [any] truck to electric. all you need is get some super-caps and electric motor. i'll show you how to keep them self-charged in any moment of time. but problem is only 1 of 100 will say "i'll do it" (and only 1 from 1000 maybe really do something but not keep sitting on computer and next 15 minutes even forget about) but another 99 will found just in three seconds thousands random reasons do not do it. just because too lazy. they will prefer keep posting memes.
I wonder if when they named Nomad they were thinking of the Star Trek episode, Imperfect Sterilize ...
That is one of my favorite episodes, hilarious! I am James "T" Kirk. You made a mistake! Sterilize!
A two hour concert by Billy Strings and his father Terry Barber. 1 hour and 37 minutes into it they do a rendition of the Beatles Here Comes the Sun and absolutely NAIL the guitar bit. Awesome.
Need PCIe SSD with Atomic Writes for MariaDB
I recently turned up a Hubzilla in addition to the Friendica Fediverse social media site here. Sunday it seemed to be okay but come Monday the server was seeing loads of around 150 or so at which point a number of web apps turned themselves off. Also it was exhausted on connections which made many peoples WordPress sites break.
After much fine tuning I’ve gotten MySQL to handle a touch over 400 transactions per second, but occasionally hubzilla spikes higher than that and the load will temporarily rise.
After doing some research on MariaDB and tuning it as best I could, now load only goes up to about 8 as opposed to 150, but virtually all waiting processes are waiting on DIsk I/O at that point so it appears that peaks are saturating the drives I/O capability. Already this is on a 4-disk RAID 10 array with everything pretty finely tuned.
Researching I am finding most people are not getting much better than 400 TPS on rotary drives and perhaps 500 TPS with M.2 SSD drives, but with a PCIE SSD drive that supports atomic writes, up to 1500 TPS has been obtained.
So I am searching for same but not having much luck. I can find lots of M.2s but can not find PCIE drives. When I search I only find PCIE SSD adapters, not what I need.
Does anybody know where I can source these and who makes them, perhaps some make and model numbers?

Globalists vs Populists
I think he has an excellent take on the situation.
And we will end up in a recession with horrendous inflation. Nice going, senile criminal guy! Of course he is a puppet, the "masters" don't dare show their faces, yet.
I am hope that someone or a group can step up and organize a movement. We are being completely hosed by our new 'government'. They are working very fast to create a collapse of our economy, utter chaos.
@Vee McMillen Seems to me Trump is still active in this endeavor. I'm doing what I can to facilitate non-controlled non-censored communications.
Maintenance
I am going to be taking our webserver down at midnight to backup and then to repartition the disk so that I can create a separate partition for mariadb tables so I can better optimize it for performance. This is pacific standard time. It may be down for several hours.
Well the tuning I did on MariaDB was definitely worthwhile. My Wordpress site now loads in 245ms, and the system load is staying reasonable even at 400 tps.
Is it so bad, to keep the planet in a good shape?
its only bad to someone's pockets. wars and disasters is only way they know how to filling and keep them full.
@Thorsten Claus Actually Satellite data shows that the mean temperature has only increased .14C since 1980, that's over a 41 year period not a ONE year period.
ps: i did offer you last night to jump in to this train and be involved in the great movement. but you too lazy to open door little bit wider by yourself. i'm not going to be your babysitter in that, im sorry. if you not get it - the gift i gave you, then just forget about. you will have another option soon: to buy new toys in exchange for "money". i hope you have them a lot. cause new toys i guess will be pricy a little, cause its always like that on very begin (and you not only who will want them too). so start collecting buks asap then, its your option now. and others, who don't want to use brain. sorry if sound little bit rude, but its how i see it.
@spacedream No I read everything that you offered that wasn't behind a paywall and I iterated what about it was non-sensical, which you failed to respond to.
Hubzilla
New Federated Social Media Hubzilla
We’ve added a new federated social media platform called “Hubzilla“, hubzilla.eskimo.com/. It is similar to Friendica friendica.eskimo.com/ in that it is a federated social media platform but it has many more capabilities including channels that are similar to groups or blogs or user pages in Facebook but federated across the entire fediverse grid, although not all fediverse servers like friendica support all the features of hubzilla. It is considerably more complex however it is well documented online. Discovery of both users and resources such as channels is much easier and faster than it is with friendica and in my view the layout is somewhat nicer.
Hubzilla
I installed a Hubzilla instance tonight in addition to friendica, hubzilla.eskimo.com/ but I do not think I have it configured right. I can find other profiles on other hubs and other channels but no messages come across and when I try to view public stream it says, Public Stream App (Not Installed): The unmoderated public stream of this hub, but in the list of add-ons there is no Public Stream App and I do not know how to install it.
@Slim Shady Yes it is open but there are minor things like only the default theme works, etc. But it is basically operational. It is at hubzilla.eskimo.com/
You said are they turning on her, that would be awesome. I intended to reply but hit the wrong button.
Kernel Upgrades affecting Friendica.eskimo.com
I will be doing kernel upgrades, both on the virtual host and physical hardware, upon which friendica.eskimo.com/ is hosted tomorrow evening (Friday February 19th) between 11pm and midnight Pacific Standard Time. Service will be interrupted while servers reboot.
Tickless Kernels
5.10.17 and 5.11 tickless kernels are now available:
eskimo.com/kernel/
There is both a "client" and "server" version of each. The client version is compiled to be fully preemptive and with a 1000HZ clock for minimum latency. The server version is non-preemptive and with a 100HZ clock for maximum thruput.
There are three deb files for each, download all three and install with:
dpkg -i *.deb
Nice video, by the way -- 'Red Pill'. haha!
No idea why it came back, but it did so not too long after this. By the way, when I log in starting from a blank screen, the default is 'Network'. I still don't understand the different choices -- apparently just sorting the database a different way.
One of the neatest features is the ability to look at a contact page, and see that person's comments, independent of which thread they were posted to. You can stumble onto some interesting conversations. Also, gives a good idea whether a person has anything to say, or if they are just a bot/news aggregator.
Yes,
No,
We already crossed that point January 6th.
Rush Limbaugh
The way the left wing communist news commentators are disrespecting Rush Limbaugh now that he's dead and can't defend himself is disgusting.
@Slim Shady What they really mean is orange man might expose our child sex trafficking, drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, and money laundering operations.
You make a valid point... but not really.
Now, had you opined that you were an imbecilic tool for the elite I would agree wholeheartedly.
But, you're a shill for the enemy which means you're not even human. Thus, beneath me.
How does my boot taste in your mouth, sub-human scum?
And they can't sue them, right? That should have been a big clue for the non-thinkers that took the vaccine.

I did not see Fight Club when it came out, but have been a reader of ZeroHedge for some time.
i re-watched it like 4 or 5 times in past. its like a good book, every time you found something in new angle of view.
